The latest collection of energy efficient contemporary kitchen appliances will be showcased on stand K116 at Grand Designs Live! This state-of-the-art appliance will be the highlight of the contemporary kitchen yet is also its hidden gem. Designed for those kitchens where there is little opportunity for stunning overhead extraction, this hood is built beneath the worksurface itself and hidden away from view until required. Elevating to just above pan level at the touch of the controls, it will then extract steam and fumes from the induction or ceramic hob in front of, or next to the appliance. Offering powerful extraction levels, this 900 m/ h extractor features four power levels, which can be increased using touch controls on the digital display. It is also super quiet, at 34 dB (A).

Pioneer of the induction c oncept, De Dietric h has alway s been at the forefront of this energy efficient technology. Its new 65cm Dti853X is the firs t true z oneless induction hob, which has a number of unique features that offer total cooking freedom together with the precision of induc tion. The powerful 7.2Kw Dual Continuum hob has two side-by -side z oneless Continuum in duc tion areas of equal size, which incorporate almos t the entire surface. Each zoneless area fe atures independent touc h controls and up to four pans of any size can be placed any where on each zoneless surface (up to eight pans in all). Both z ones offer separate temperature options for front and back with 15 power lev els for eac h, or can be operated as a single large z one to accommodate fis h kettles or larger pans and prov ide uniform heat, whatev er the size of the pan. Should a pan need to be mov ed, from front to back, for ex ample, a unique power tracker will follow the pans mov ement so the temperature will remain constant, wherev er it is situated. It can then be controlled as normal in its new position. A further time elaps ed indicator will identify the time eac h pan has spent cookin g on the hob. This is extremely useful if a number of pans are being heated on the hob simultaneously , and different cooking times are required for perfect res ults. Induc tion hobs, pioneered by De Dietrich are the mos t energy efficient ty pe of hobs av ailable at up to 90% efficiency. This compares ex tremely fav ourably to gas, which is around 55% energy efficient. Induc tion is almost double the s peed of gas y et the most controllable ty pe of hob as eac h control setting offers perfec t precision. As it is the pan th at heats, and not the hob, induc tion is s uper s afe and the surrounding area is alway s cool to the touch.
