Performance Level is Dependent on Location I bought a box of 3 of these recently. The one in the bathroom seems to work just fine. Awesome superb sound! Setup nightmare!!! Wow, this thing was so difficult to setup. I mean, the manual are not exactly well written.

Great Sound. Great Price. So much better than my previous receiver it is untrue. Not very user friendly when using remote control for sources.

Just set mine up last night. Need to add other speakers to get the full capability of all features but so far, really nice! Shop around.

Press Release

DENONs ENTRY LEVEL A/V RECEIVERS SET NEW BENCHMARK
15 January 2007 Denon announce two new entry-level A/V receivers that offer outstanding performance for money, the AVR-1707 ($899) and the AVR-1507 ($699). These new models offer 7 x 75 watts per channel, Auto Set-up feature (AVR-1707 only), and 32-bit floating point DSP with full 96kHz processing. Both models also support all current Home Theatre surround sound formats including: Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, Dolby Pro-Logic IIx, DTS-NEO:6 and DTS 96/24, these latest additions to Denons A/V line offer features normally found in receivers considerably more expensive.
The AVR-1707 features advanced Video Up/Down conversion technology that supports Composite to S-Video and Component conversion. Three sets of Component video inputs together with 3 sets of S-Video switching, make the AVR1707 an ideal and versatile control centre. Improved video bandwidth of the Component inputs, 100MHz for the AVR-1707 and 30MHz for the AVR-1507, translate into greater picture resolution with sharper more defined images.
Both models also support iPod connectivity when used with Denons optional ASDIR Control Dock. The iPod can also be controlled via the remote controller supplied with both receivers.
Denons proprietary Auto Set-up function (AVR-1707) allows you to achieve the most ideal sound field for your particular room or listening preferences. With the included microphone placed at your listening position, the powerful 32-bit floating point DSP automatically and accurately analyses, adjusts and sets the speaker configurations of your system to produce the perfect sound stage.
Within both the AVR-1707 and AVR-1507, the power amp sections have been meticulously designed to reproduce exceptionally high quality sound and wide 10Hz to 100kHz frequency response, making them eminently suited for DVD-Audio and Super-Audio CD. Similarly, both models also feature eight Analogue Ext inputs to meet the needs of multi-channel music sources.
Making for improved sound quality, seven channels of amplification allow the AVR-1707 front right and left channels to be bi-amped in a 5.1 channel theatre environment. The AVR-1707 also features both a 5-channel and 7-channel Stereo Mode, that transforms your favourite 2-channel sources such as CD, tape, stereo radio and stereo video sources into exciting surround sound, free of delay effects and unnatural artefacts from all speakers. An Audio Delay Function overcomes lip-sync problems when there are slight lags between sound and picture. A problem often associated in the video signal processing circuits when using Progressive Scan DVD players.
Covered by a nationwide two-year parts and labour warranty both the AVR-1707 and AVR-1507 are available at selected Denon dealers.
