XDMA6630 INSTALLATION

Preparation

Please read entire manual before installation. Before You Start isconnect negative battery terminal. Consult a qualified technician for instructions. D void installing the unit where it would be subject to high temperatures, such as from A direct sunlight, or where it would be subject to dust, dirt or excessive vibration. Getting Started Remove trim ring from unit, Remove 2 transit screws located on top of the unit. Insert the supplied keys into the slots as shown, and slide the unit out of the mounting sleeve. Install mounting sleeve into opening, bending tabs to secure. Connect wiring harness and antenna. Consult a qualified technician if you are unsure. Certain vehicles may require an installation kit and/or wiring harness adapter (sold separately). Test for correct operation and slide into mounting sleeve to secure. Snap trim ring into place.

When replacing the fuse, make sure new fuse is the correct type and amperage. Using an incorrect fuse could damage the radio. The XDMA6630 uses one 10 amp ATM fuse located beside the wiring connector.

General Operation

Faceplate Removal Semi-Permanent Faceplate Installation Power On/Off Mode Press RELEASE and pull away from the left side to remove. To re-install, insert right side of faceplate first then push left side to secure. Remove trim ring and install supplied #1 x 7/32 Phillips head screw through left side of mounting frame into faceplate. Press or any other button (except eject) to turn the unit on. Inserting a disc will turn the unit on automatically. Press and hold to turn the unit off. Press MODE to select between AM/FM, CD player, operation iPod, USB, auxiliary input and Bluetooth modes. Modes of operation are indicated in the display. Note: CD mode will not appear unless a CD is inserted. USB mode will not appear unless a USB device is connected. Operation of iPod mode will not appear unless an iPod device is connected. Auxiliary Input Steering Wheel Interface Input Insert 3.5 mm plug to connect your portable audio device. The steering wheel interface input located on the back of the head unit allows connection to the PAC (Pacific Accessory Corporation) SWI-PS interface module (sold separately). Visit www.pac-audio.com for details. To configure steering wheel controls, follow the instructions provided with the PAC SWI-PS interface module. After installing the interface module, insert the module's 3.5mm jack into the port on the back of the head unit. Volume Mute Reset Display Set the Clock Adjust volume using volume knob (00-46). Press MUTE to silence the audio. MUTE will flash in the display. Press MUTE again to cancel. Press to RESET the unit upon initial installation or if abnormal operation occurs. The reset button is located behind the faceplate. Press DISP to select between clock and different types of information, such as radio frequency, CD track or MP3 CD/ USB song information. With the unit on, press and hold DISP until the clock begins to flash, then release. Press TUNE to adjust the hours and TUNE to adjust the minutes. Press DISP momentarily to save the selected time.

12/24-Hour Clock

The clock will display 12-hour AM/PM time in USA frequency spacing mode (PM 10:00). In European frequency spacing mode, the clock will display 24-hour time (22:00).

Balance

Press AUDIO/MENU until BALANCE appears, then rotate the volume knob left/right to adjust (BALANCE LEFT 12 to BALANCE RIGHT 12). "BALANCE EVEN" represents equal balance. Press AUDIO/MENU until FADER appears, then rotate the volume knob left/right to adjust (FADER FRONT 12 to FADER REAR 12). "FADER EVEN" represents equal fader. Press AUDIO/MENU until EQ appears. Rotate the volume knob left/right to select between FLAT (default), POP, JAZZ, CLASSIC, BEAT, ROCK and USER equalization curves. Press SELECT to confirm. Any manual adjustment to the Bass or Treble settings are automatically saved as USER. Press AUDIO/MENU until SUBWFR appears, then press SELECT to confirm. Rotate the volume knob left/right to adjust (0-12). Adjusting levels to 0 turns the subwoofer off. The source volume level control allows a gain adjustment for each audio source: AM, FM, CD, AUX, USB, operation of iPod and Bluetooth. Set the source volume level for each mode, depending on the relative volume of each audio source. To set the source volume level, press AUDIO/MENU until SRC LEVEL appears. After one second, the current mode will appear on the display. Turn the volume knob to adjust the audio level of the current source (-6 minimum/+6 maximum). Note: Only the current mode will be available for adjustment. To adjust another mode of operation, press MODE until the desired mode is selected, then set the source volume level for that mode.

Press TUNE or TUNE for more than one second to seek to the next strong station. Press TUNE or TUNE momentarily to change radio frequency up or down one step at a time. Press and hold to advance quickly. Press SCAN to preview strong stations on the current band, pausing for five seconds at each. Press SCAN again to cancel. Press BAND to select between FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1 and AM2 bands. Up to 18 FM stations and 12 AM stations can be stored. To store a station, select the desired band and station. Press and hold the desired preset button (1-6) for more than two seconds. When stored, the preset number will appear in the display. The station can be recalled anytime by pressing the corresponding preset button. Press PS for more than two seconds to scan presets 1-6 on the current band, pausing for five seconds at each. Press PS again to cancel.

CD Player Operation
Insert CD Eject CD With the label facing up, insert a standard size CD into the CD slot. The CD will automatically begin playback. Press EJECT to eject the CD. The unit will change to previous mode of operation. If the disc is not removed within 10 seconds, the unit will reload the disc. The unit does not have to be turned on to eject CD. Press TRACK to skip to the beginning of the next track. Press TRACK to return to the beginning of the current track. Pressing TRACK again skips to the beginning of the previous track.

Some CD-Rs and CD-RWs may be incompatible with this unit, depending on media type and recording method. In addition, the following CDs may be incompatible with this unit: CDs exposed to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for extended periods of time, CDs recorded in which a recording session failed or a re-recording was attempted and encrypted or copy-protected CDs that do not conform to the audio CD-DA red book recording standard.

CD Player Operation - MP3/WMA Files
Playing an MP3/WMA Disc When an MP3/WMA encoded disc is first inserted, MP3 CD READING will appear in the display once the disc is detected as a valid data disc. Depending on the number of files and folders, this may take several seconds. Press DISP to toggle the display between the following options:

Displaying Information

NO ID3 TAG will be displayed if the MP3 file contains no ID3 tag information. UNKNOWN will be displayed if the WMA file contains no WMA tag information. ROOT will be displayed if the directory name of a root folder is not labeled.

MP3/WMA playback sequence is based on recorded order of files and begins in the root folder of the disc. Any empty folders or folders that do not include MP3/WMA files are skipped. This unit may not play files in the order they were recorded in. Refer to your recording softwares users manual for more information. When playing a disc recorded with regular audio files (CD-DA or.WAV) and MP3/WMA files, the unit will play the MP3/WMA files only. Only MP3 files with filename extension (.mp3) can be played. USB Operation - MP3/WMA Files
Connecting a USB Device (sold separately) Playing Music Play MP3/WMA files from most mass storage devices by connecting them to the XDMA6630's USB port. When a USB device is first connected, USB READING will appear in the display and playback will begin momentarily. Depending on the number of files and folders, it may take several seconds for the device to begin playing. If no valid MP3/WMA files are detected, NO FILE will be displayed and the last mode will be resumed. Press TRACK to skip to the beginning of the next track. Press TRACK to return to the beginning of the current track. Pressing TRACK again skips to the beginning of the previous track.

Press SELECT to enter the USB file/folder search mode. "USB SEARCH" will be displayed. A list of all the folders from the USB device will be displayed. Note: If there are no folders on the USB device, "ROOT" will be displayed. Press SELECT to view the files on the root folder.

Step 2

Turn the volume knob to cycle through all the folders on the device and press SELECT to choose the desired folder. The list of files in the selected folder will be displayed. Turn the volume knob to cycle through the list of files. Once the desired song is displayed, press SELECT to begin playback of the desired song. Pressing ESC when viewing the contents of a folder will return to the list of folders on the USB device. Press ESC again to exit the search menu.

"NO TITLE" will be displayed if no song title information is available. "NO ARTIST" will be displayed if no artist information is available. Playback Capacity

USB Device Compatibility
Some devices that exceed the maximum number of files or folders may not function properly. Due to the differences of USB devices, some devices may not be compatible. USB devices must be mass storage class and formatted to the FAT or FAT32 file system in order to ensure compatibility.

Operation of iPod

Connect an iPod Device (Not Included) The XDMA6630 features a direct USB control system for iPod. To play music from an iPod device, connect the USB cable (included with your iPod device) to the XDMA6630 USB port. Once connected, "iPod READING" will appear in the display. Playback will begin automatically. If a song is playing on the iPod device before it is connected, it will continue to play. Press DISP to select the display options as follows:

Search Mode

Search Menu Functions (step 1) Press SELECT once to enter the search mode. (step 2) Turn the volume knob to select between playlist, artist, album, song, audiobook and podcast. Press SELECT to select the desired search type. (step 3) Navigate to the desired song and press SELECT to begin playback of that song. Use the table below for reference when navigating through the menu options. Note: Press ESC to access the previous level (up one level). Pressing ESC from the search menu will exit the search.

Bluetooth Operation

Overview
The XDMA6630 supports the HFP (hands-free profile), A2DP (advanced audio distribution profile) and AVRCP (audio video remote control profile).
Before you can use a mobile device with this head unit, it must be paired and connected. Please make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your mobile device before you begin the pairing process. Refer to the owner's manual of your mobile device for more details.

Bluetooth Pairing

1) To pair a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone to your head unit, change to Bluetooth mode by pressing on the head unit or press MODE until "BLUE-TOOTH" is displayed. 2) Press and hold on the head unit for 5 seconds, until "PAIRING" is displayed, the Bluetooth icon will flash every second. The head unit will begin to broadcast the pairing signal for 90 seconds. 3) Complete the pairing from the Bluetooth menu of your mobile device by searching for new devices. Please refer to your mobile device instructions for further information on Bluetooth pairing and connections. The Bluetooth icon will illuminate solid when connected.

Connecting a mobile device

To connect a previously paired mobile device: 1) Disconnect any mobile devices by pressing and holding for 5 seconds. 2) Press SELECT. "DEVICE NAME" will appear on the LCD. 2) Turn the volume knob to cycle through the list of devices 1 through 8. 3) Press to connect to the desired device. It must be in range to connect. Note: When a device number is selected, i will take a few moments for the device name to appear on the bottom line of the LCD.

Compatibility

Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some mobile devices may be incompatible or function improperly when used with the XDMA6630. 22

Function Description Press once. "Enter Number" will be shown, then an "_" will appear on the display. Input the desired phone number using the 0-9, *, # buttons on the Making a Phone Call remote control. Press to begin dialing. A phone call may also be placed from your mobile device using the keypad, phone book or speed dial. When a call is placed from a mobile device, DIALING will appear on the head unit display. If an incoming call is detected, the head unit will automatically switch to Bluetooth mode. The incoming phone number will scroll across the display, the phone icon will flash on the display, and a ring tone will be audible from the vehicle speakers. See Bluetooth Settings for Receiving a Phone speaker configurations. Call Note: The ring audio level will depend the mobile device and head unit ring volume and audio settings. If the ringer on the mobile device is off, you may not hear an incoming ring tone. Press on the head unit to receive a call. The phone icon in the display will illuminate solid. The head unit will display the elapsed time of the phone call. During a Phone Call The volume knob will adjust the volume of the call. Press MUTE to mute the microphone during a call. To refuse an incoming phone call, press and hold for 3 seconds. Press to end a call. Ending a Phone Call If the phone call was received, the head unit will return to previous mode when call is ended. Press twice consecutively to redial the last number. Redial Refusing a Call
Function Description While a mobile device is connected, press SELECT. The head unit will display "RECENT CALLS." This will list the previous 10 calls that were received by or placed from the XDMA6630. Recent call menu Rotate the volume knob to cycle through the list of phone numbers Press to begin dialing the selected number while it is displayed. DIALING will appear on the head unit display. To transfer the phone call between the head unit and the mobile device, press and hold DISP for 3 seconds during a call. Tip: transfer audio to your mobile device before turning the head unit off. When there is a second call incoming, press to activate call waiting. The current call will be placed on hold, and the second call will be active. Press again to return to the first call. During a phone call, press to place the current call on hold. To resume the phone call, press again.

The Bluetooth icon will flash every 10 seconds when not paired to a mobile device. Disables Bluetooth support. You must always press to connect a mobile device.

Disables the auto answer feature. Press to receive an incoming call. Auto Answer All incoming calls will be answered automatically AUTO ANS ON after 2-3 rings without notification. (Bluetooth Audio Mode) The XDMA6630 supports A2DP (advanced audio distribution profile) wireless streaming audio from your Bluetooth mobile device directly to your head unit. You can also control your music from the front panel of the head unit using AVRCP (audio video remote control profile). Notes: To stream music to your head unit, your mobile device must support the A2DP and AVRCP Bluetooth profiles. Check the owner's manual of your mobile device for details. Streaming audio must be enabled from your mobile device. This option will vary depending on the device. Some devices allow streaming audio to be disabled. After pairing, connecting and enabling streaming audio from a compatible mobile device, begin playing music using the music player on your mobile device. Bluetooth Reset

Resetting the Bluetooth module will remove the list of paired phones and delete the list of recent calls from memory. To reset the XDMA6630's Bluetooth feature, perform the following steps: 1) Press MODE until the head unit is in Bluetooth mode. 2) Press and hold MODE for 3 seconds to reset the Bluetooth settings back to the factory default.
Limited One Year Warranty
This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Dual Electronics Corp. warrants this product to the original purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of the original purchase.
