Garmin eTrex Vista HCX When I purchased this unit at Amazon the price was $199.00. Etrex Lost car GPS in a lake in Maine bought this product to mark boating routes and good fishing spots.

loaded with maps and details you cant find with other models consumes batteries like no tommorrow accurate, easy to use, weather resistant plan on using a two AA batteries a day

Good unit, but the Vista H has a black and white screen as shown, not the color screen in the writeup. The Vista HCx is the color model. If you shop for best price this is a good value. Durable, Good Value, High Quality Lacks detail map base

An area of receipt, the Garmin eTrex Vista HCX, using a new high sensitivity of the receiver acquired satellite 8 and 10 meters. Garmin as the leader of GPS release 2 new device eTrex Vista H and eTrex Legend H - the GPS receivers for hikers and mountaineers. The Vista HCx does a great job locking in satellites with the new high sensitive receiver and its built in patch antenna.

drawing a blank not user friendly I have had this unit for a year now and have not had any major problems. Barometric Altimiter - Size Does not work well in tree cover I bought my GPS by internet and try two devices: etrex vista and legend.

For the price, this GPS is the best thing going. Magnetic compass, barometric altimeter Software is expensive and mediocre

Overall a great unit for the price. The unit works very well, and it is easy to use once you figure all the nuiances. COPACT SIZE IS NICE. FITS IN POCKET. EASY TO OPERATE. TOO MANY FUNCTIONS NOT REALLY NEEDED FOR A GPS.

I am hoping it is accurate on trails as we have the topo maps. It tracks quite a distance from city roads unless you have it zoomed out.

The advantage is clear - whether you're in deep woods or just near tall buildings and trees, you can count on Vista HCx to help you find your way when you need it the most. The Vista HCx has a built-in electronic compass that provides bearing information even while you're standing still, and its barometric altimeter tracks changes in pressure to pinpoint your precise altitude. You can even use the altimeter to plot barometric pressure over time, which can help you keep an eye on changing weather conditions. Adding maps is easier than ever with Vista HCx's microSD card slot. Conveniently plug in optional preloaded microSD cards with MapSource data for your land and sea excursions. Just insert a MapSource card with detailed street maps, and Vista HCx provides turn-by-turn directions to your destination. The card slot is located inside the waterproof battery compartment, so you don't have to worry about getting it wet.
