New Hitachi HDDs Boast 3D Navigation Software
LifeStudio series developed in collaboration with Cooliris
The past few months did not suffer from any shortage of storage solutions releases. In fact, it can be said that quite a few such products, especially external and/or portable ones, made it out into the world, causing waves on their respective target consumer bases. Hitachi decided it was time to offer something more unique, something that said end-users wouldn't exactly expect. As such, it collaborated with Cooliris on adding 3D Navigation capabilities to, oddly enough, one of its hard drive lines. The HDD series in question goes by the name of LifeStudio and has several sub-series, though they are all alike in the way that they employ the USB 2.0 interface. The list includes 320GB and 500GB LifeStudio Mobile Plus models, 250GB-500GB LifeStudio Mobile Versions, 500GB 1TB and 2TB LifeStudio Desk drives and even 1TB and 2TB LifeStudio Desk Plus units. The LifeStudio Software, bundled with the drives themselves, employs Cooliris's 3D Wall technology, which let people interact with multimedia files, either stored on sites like Facebook and Flickr, or stored locally. Basically, it allows for navigation of media content, cloud backup and access to data stored on social networks. "Hitachi GST continues to seek out innovative technology companies to help deliver the most unique products and experiences to market," said Mike Williams, general manager and vice president, Hitachi GST Branded Business. "Cooliris has been a great company to work with. Together, we've created an integrated, seamless and very unique experience for consumers - no other external hard drive can or will provide a software experience like the LifeStudio family of external drives, powered by Cooliris," he added. All LifeStudio Series products have 2-year warranties, except for the Plus models, which have three years.
