iRiver Outs 8GB E50 Metal Digital Audio Player
For now, solely available on the Japanese market
There are times when certain consumer electronics manufacturers really get on everyone's nerves by releasing some very attractive product only in a few select regions of the world. And that's also the case with iRiver, which has recently introduced on the Japanese market the 8GB E50 metal digital audio player, a device that combines very good playback capabilities with an enhanced level of resilience against shocks. While this is not exactly a completely new product (the metallic E50 has actually been around for quite some time now), the fact that iRiver is pushing the storage limit to 8GB (flash memory module, of course) signifies that there has been some market demand for such a move, which is to be expected, given the overall attractive look and the features this portable player can provide. Now, as expected, larger memory translates into more storage space for one's favorite media. Hence, as iRiver informs us, the new 8GB model provides enough space for storing up to 1920 tunes, around 128 hours of audio recording and around 80 hours of voice recording. Plus, the built-in battery offers around 52 hours of non-stop playback time. Similar to the previous 4GB model, the new E50 sports a very slim and slender profile, measuring just around 38.8 x 7.7 x 88mm, at an overall weight of about 40.2 grams. Also, pretty much in the same manner as most other iRiver products out there, the device will play a wide range of audio files, including here MP3, WMA, APE and FLAC. Price-wise, the 8GB E50 metal digital audio player is still within the normal boundaries for this type of products, since it sells for somewhere in the vicinity of 12,800 Yen (95 Euro), a rather fair sum, given the looks and the features it provides.
