Klark Teknik DN360 : Common Problems
The two most common problems in the Klark Teknik DN360 graphic equaliser are due to (1) oxidisation on the connectors between the fader panel and the electronics, the most common symptom will be selected EQ bands not functioning (2) cracked solder joints on the XLR input/output PCB near the XLR connectors, the most common symptom will be intermittent level changes between input and outputs. The first step is to remove the top and bottom covers from the unit Oxidisation Of Connectors Simply unplug the connectors between the fader panel and the electronics one at a time, squirt the females with a little Caig Labs ProGold and refit. (do not use other chemicals). The use of disposable rubber gloves and a dust mask is recommended. Cracked Solder Joints on the XLR Input/Output PCB The underside of the XLR input/output PCB will need partial re-soldering.
First unlock the latches in each XLR connector with a jewellers screwdriver. The latches are released with a small turn anticlockwise, be gentle with the latches.
Undo the four screws on the PCB with a stubby screwdriver.
Re-solder the bypass relays and anything suspect looking in the area. Only use good quality standard 60/40 solder. Pay particular attention to the pins that connect the top side of the circuit board to the bottom side. Re-assembly is the opposite of dis-assembly.

Hux Universal Balancing Amplifier
The Hux Universal Balancing Amplifier system is a dual channel, flexible solution to many balancing and unbalancing problems. The unit can be supplied as just a PCB, as a PCB with all required components or as a fully built and tested unit with the cable set already made. The PCB is a high quality, double sided board and is screen printed. The balancing amplifier output stage uses Burr Brown DRV134 active balanced line driver devices. Protection has been incorporated to ensure that common problems in the professional audio world such as misplaced external 48 volt phantom power cannot damage or impede the output devices. The PCB can be used simultaneously as a dual channel unbalancing and balancing amplifier.
Hux DN360 Balanced Output Mod for Klark Teknik DN360 EQ
The Klark Teknik DN360 EQ as standard has balanced inputs and "unbalanced" outputs. The Hux Universal Balancing Amplifier PCB is designed to exactly fit mounting points on the DN360 XLR in/out board. A Molex loom from the balancing amplifier connects directly to Molex connectors on the DN360 XLR in/out board. Only three wires need to be soldered from the balancing amp PCB to power supply terminals inside the DN360. The Hux DN360 mod kit enables a cost effective balanced output for the DN360 and eliminates the need for "special" insert cables. Only one Hux DN360 mod kit PCB is required to balance both output channels of one Klark Teknik DN-360 graphic equaliser.
Above shows the DN360 mod kit fully built, with cable sets and board mounts. A stick-on label for the rear of the DN360 is also supplied, this states active balanced input/output.
