Klipsch Adding a Wireless Spark to the ProMedia 2.1 Computer Speakers

I don't know if you remember the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 computer speaker system, but I guess you have serious reasons not to. Fact is, Klipsch launched it in 2000 and as the years went by, it soon became one of the most praised computer speaker systems, thanks to its good sound quality and, of course, pricing. "The ProMedia is still the defacto 2.1 standard for computer speakers. It's been known to put some home stereo systems to shame, and we want to keep it that way - with or without wires," said Don Inmon, Klipsch director of product development for personal audio. There are many computer speaker systems out there, but most of them already bother users just because they sport cables. With such an increase in mobile technology, audio streaming is as common nowadays, just like the auxiliary line-input on various speakers. Considering the trends on the market, the manufacturer thought of adding a new spark to the ProMedia 2.1 speaker system, and came up with a wireless version of the original model. As for differences, the new model looks and sounds just like the THX-certified original, only that the Klipsch logos are silvered instead of copper. The physical difference is that instead of a jack that users needed to plug into their computers headphone output or line-out, the Wireless ProMedia 2.1 brings a USB wireless transmitter. Just plug, play and enjoy the full sonic impact of your music, movies and games without being tied down," said Inmon. "No router or installation software is needed." Pricing for this is only fifty bucks higher than the original model, coming with a price tag of $199.
