Lexicon Omega iPad Recording FAQ Sheet
Finally, you can do it all from the convenience and portability of the iPad! The Lexicon Omega streams 24-bit audio at 44.1 kHz sample rate to an iPad over the USB connection. This ensures the highest quality audio for recording and playback. When you use the Lexicon Omega to stream music over USB you dont experience pops and feedback like those experienced when using other devices to stream an instrument through the headphone jack the quality is far better with the Lexicon Omega. Q: Is this function unique to the Lexicon Omega? A: With Lexicon I/O recording interfaces, yes. The Omega is the only Lexicon I/O device that allows a musician to record directly to the iPad. We've done extensive comparisons with our competition, and nothing holds a candle to what we can do. In order for an I/O device to work with the iPad like the Omega does, it needs to meet several requirements; the two most critical are compliant drivers and an independent power source. The Omega offers both of these and works seamlessly with the iPad.
Q: Does the Lexicon Omega interface need the Apple connector? A: Yes, the Apple Camera Connection Kit exposes a USB connection for connection to the iPad. Consumers can purchase the Camera Connection Kit ($29.00 USD) or find out more about it online at http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A
Q: How exactly does the Apple Camera Connection Kit work? A: Plug and Play: 1. Connect your Lexicon Omega to your iPad with a USB cable and USB host adaptor. The USB LED light will turn on when connected successfully. 2. Choose your instrument and/or mic and connect into the Omega. 3. Launch your favorite recording app in your iPad.

Q: What are the details with GarageBand? How does it work, how many tracks, are there others to use? A: GarageBand, like many other recording apps available on the iTunes store and Apple App Store are great tools to record on the iPad. Each of these recording applications has their own advantages and limitations, which gives the musician a wealth of options to allow for total personalized recording. In the apps that we have tested with the Lexicon Omega, each one has automatically recognized the Omega and has not problem recording without any additional set up or installation.
Q: How many channels can you record simultaneously? A: It depends on the recording application. The Lexicon Omega supports up to 4 individual tracks recording simultaneously at any given time. Q: Does the Lexicon Omega have MIDI compatibility?
A: Yes! Not only does the Omega offer MIDI compatibility in its traditional use, but it also works with the iPad as well. We have tested our interface with the free app, Midi Monitor and are listed on the Devices that Work at www.iosmidi.com/devices.

Midi Monitor App

Q: Why will this work with Omega and not the other recording interfaces offered by Lexicon? A: There are two very important items to keep in mind here: 1. The iPad doesnt allow us to install custom drivers and the new IO series requires custom drivers. 2. The iPad requires the I/O device to have a separate power supply. The Lexicon Alpha and Lambda have the compliant drivers, yet lack the separate power supply and require too much power for the iPad to support. Q: When will this functionality be available? A: Immediately! Not only is this one of the coolest developments the Lexicon Omega has seen for quite some timeits also one of the simplest! Just plug and play the device automatically recognizes the Omega, and all devices are compatible and ready for use today.

Cubase LE Setup and Pantheon Reverb Plug-in for Mac OS X
Congratulations on your purchase of the Lexicon Omega Studio. This guide contains the information needed to install the required USB drivers and Steinbergs Cubase LE recording software for use with your Lexicon Omega hardware on either Windows XP or Mac OSX computer systems. Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure smooth installation of each of these components.
OMEGA STUDIO FOR WINDOWS XP USERS
A. INSTALLING THE LEXICON USB DRIVERS
You must install the USB drivers to use your Lexicon Omegas USB connection with your computer. Follow the directions listed in the following section to complete the installation process. Start your computer. Close any open programs you have running. Take your Lexicon Omega hardware out of the box and plug the power in. Connect the included USB cable to your computer and to the Omega. You will see multiple messages pop up from the task bar indicating that your computer has found a new USB device. There will be multiple messages because there are four USB devices in the Omega. When Windows displays the message Your new hardware is installed and ready to use, Windows has completed identifying your new hardware. However, your software installation IS NOT complete. 5. Put the Omega Studio Software Installation disk into your computers CD-ROM drive. If you have Autorun enabled, the Omega Driver Installer Setup Wizard will automatically launch. If it does not launch automatically, you can open it by selecting Start>Run and entering D:\Omega.exe (where D:\ is the letter of your CD-ROM drive). 6. Next, select the language that youd like to run the installer in. 7. Continue selecting Next and choose I agree to the terms of the License Agreement. 8. Select the Omega Driver Installer Software components (Cubase LE, Pantheon Reverb Plug-In, and Help Files) that you wish to install and click Next. 9. Choose your desired installation folder, or use the default setting and select Install. 10. You will now see the window shown below. Click Next to continue and follow the onscreen instructions for the remainder of the installation. 1. 2. 3. 4.
11. During this process you may be asked (4 times) to continue or stop the installation. Click Continue Anyway each time as shown below.
12. Click Finish to complete the Driver Installation. Note: If you chose to install Cubase LE in Step 8, the installation of Cubase LE will now begin. Skip Steps 1 and 2 of the next section and continue following the rest of the instructions to correctly install Cubase LE.
B. INSTALLING CUBASE LE RECORDING SOFTWARE
1. Start your computer. Close any open programs you have running. Put the Omega Studio Software Installation disk into your CD-ROM drive. 2. Select Start>Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices. 2. Select the Audio tab. 3. Under Sound Playback>Default device, open the pull-down menu and make sure your computers sound card is selected. 4.
