Too often it seems that the industrial design has taken precedence over sound quality. With the introduction of the L75 Surround Sound Receiver, NAD now offers the level of performance associated with its highly acclaimed full-size separates in an elegant, compact design.
Features
or other digital recording device, the L75 also sports two digital outputs (one optical, one coaxial). Rather than using spring clips for loudspeaker cable connection, as usually found on compact systems, the L75 offers high quality loudspeaker binding posts, more associated with top-of-therange full-size AV receivers. A line-level output for connection to a powered subwoofer is provided as well. The L75 will automatically recognise DTS or Dolby Digital and switch accordingly. Besides these modes, Stereo 3 and Hall are available, both aimed at reproducing music in a realistic way, creating a natural ambience, instead of the quickly boring "spectacular" effects normally found. As one would expect from NAD, only high quality components have been used, such as high resolution ADCs (Analogue-to-Digital Converter) and DACs (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) from renowned manufacturer Crystal to obtain the best possible performance. The cosmetically and technically matching NAD L55 DVD/CD Player is the perfect partner to the L75 to form an outstanding system, stunning to look at and to listen to.
The NAD engineers concentrated only on the truly important parts of a surround sound receiver. As the new Digital Surround Sound formats allow for the same wide bandwidth and large dynamic range for the front channels as the rear channels, all five channels are capable of putting out an equal amount of power. As usual with NAD, the L75 uses discrete output stages only, including the surround channels. The benefits of this approach have been proven over the years in many acclaimed NAD amplifiers and receivers. The integrated output modules favoured by so many other designs will deliver a decent amount of power under laboratory conditions, driving an 8 ohms resistor, but can have great difficulties in driving moderately difficult speakers. Even though the receiver may be small, it still is very flexible: up to six sources can be connected (with the built-in tuner, that potentially gives you access to seven sources) of which three also offer S-Video and Composite Video inputs. Besides the Monitor output, the L75 also has two outputs, of course with S-Video and Composite as well. Three digital inputs (two optical, one coaxial) are provided, and, for easy transferring to a CD recorder
