When I needed to pick up a new digital camera, I was fairly leery of spending too much money.

I had a Olympus Stylus 500 (5 mp), and a Stylus film camera before that. They are all good quality camera of small size. The units looks just like described. It meets my our need, compact and Widows Vista compatable. No need to search for driver.

Purchased this camera as an every day carry-around alternative to the bulkier SLR (E500) & slightly less bulky advanced compact (C-750).

The manual or mess with Olympus software. I like that. The camera syncs right up with windows using the supplied USB cord.

Print settings (DPOF)

Print reservation allows you to save printing data (the number of prints and the date and time information) with the pictures stored on the card. With print reservation, you can print out pictures easily either at home using a personal DPOF-compatible printer or at a photo store that supports DPOF. DPOF is a standard format used to record automatic print information from digital cameras.
Only the images stored on the card can be reserved to print. Insert a card with recorded pictures into the camera before making print reservations. DPOF reservations set by another device cannot be changed by this camera. Make changes using the original device. If a card contains DPOF reservations set by another device, entering reservations using this camera may overwrite the previous reservations. You can make DPOF print reservations for up to 999 images per card. Not all functions may be available on all printers, or at all photo stores.

A Change from Film Cameras
Looking back over several issues of this newsletter, there have been several discussions teaching why you should use a card reader instead of the inferior download cable supplied with cameras. Heres yet another reason. Unlike lm cameras, digital cameras can continue to evolve. The read only memory, or rmware, in your camera can be changed or updated at any time without having to be returned to the factory. As a camera owner, you may update your camera by yourself if you so choose. On subsequent pages is a list of camera updates available. Your camera may well be on the list. Sometimes the updates are to improve the cameras capabilities, but more frequently they are to correct inadequacies in the original workings of the cameras. Camera companies will not upgrade your camera for you, no matter the reason for the update. In most updates, you download the new software from the camera makers web site, transfer it to a memory card which you then insert in your camera. Turn the camera on, and either the camera updates itself or gives you instructions on the LCD panel. There is no way this can be done with the download USB cable. The process is not very difcult to do, but is time consuming and can be unnerving. If the update is not done correctly, you cannot go back to the original rmware version - its gone. If you go to your camera makers web site and see how the update will improve your camera, you may decide to do the update or have us do it for you. One customer recently commented that he had been dissatised with the autofocus delay and shutter lag of his camera. After being updated, he is very pleased with how much faster his camera 2

performs. He had considered replacing it, but now is happy keeping it. So far, our stores have performed updates for our customers. If you are interested, contact us. (Sorry, but we will not perform updates on Kodak or Polaroid cameras which were sold elsewhere.)
