THE NEWSLETTER FOR COASTAL CORVETTE ASSOCIATION MEMBERS
December 2010
Coastal Corvettes THE WAVE
NEXT CRUISE INFO
For Jans cruise, we will be meeting at the Home Depot parking lot in Pooler on Saturday Jan 8 at 3:00. We will depart promptly at 3:30. We will be cruising to Sylvania to the Shannon Vineyards. There will be wine tasting prior to a scheduled dinner at 6:00 PM. I would bet that after the cruise we will probably stop at Sonic in Pooler on the way back. Be on the lookout for an email & menu the first week of January. EVENTS @ A GLANCE
PREZ SEZ First I would like to offer a Merry Christmas and a SAFE holiday season to all CCA members and their famalies. Baby, its cold outside, can you believe this weather in paradise? We had an excellent turn out for the party and having Joe Collier able to attend was a very speciall treat. We are all glad he is back and safe. We were also glad to see Hoyt up and aroundafter his accident. We wished Capt'n Bob was able to attend but the open seas call. I have gotten nothing but KUDOS about the CCA Christmas party. Many thanks to the Party Committee, George Troficanto, David Reed and Hoyt Spearman. Also for the others that stepped in and helped. David Reed was his usual demure self as our "DIRTY SANTA". I believe everyone had a good time and some of the gifts were down right "cute". I'm glad that there were mostly adults there. :) Keep in mind those that are less fortunate than us this Holiday Season. Remember WE drive CORVETTES. Mike Goodling Best wishes to all.

I want to extend a special thank you to all the great Santas helpers. I want to start with Pat Powers & Nancy Egan our 50/50 ladies who through their efforts to raise the money for the Christmas Party. To George & Dan for their unselfish efforts for preparing the delicious meal, no one went home hungry and they missed part of the party as they were cooking. To Phyllis and Hoyt for arranging for the great facility and to their son-in-law, Mark for his back stage help. Thanks to John and Jim for set-
ting up tables and chairs and to the decorating staff, Nancy, Marla, Phyllis, Marilyn, Lyn & Claudette for turning an empty hall into a festive one. Thanks to all the ladies who brought the delicious desserts, just ask Bev. I want to give a special thanks to our President, Mike, for his leadership and I look forward to asking his support for the 2011 Christmas Party. Merry Christmas and God bless all of you. David Reed
Gathering XIV
We are four months away from our big event, Gathering XIV. Mike has already reserved the Lighthouse and blocked rooms at the Ocean Plaza. Marty has been working hard on the flyer and sponsorship. Of course Doris has the cookies covered. We hope to have the flyer published early in Jan so all the clubs have time to put it on their 2011 calendars. I have attended 4 big Corvette shows and handed out 400 Save the Date flyers for the Gathering. We already have the Sting Ray Club of Ft Lauderdale making reservations for the show and the JAX club seemed interested in making the trip. We need to make this years Gathering bigger and better than last years if that is possible. We already have allot of things covered but, as always we need some assistance. These are the areas we need help with; donations, door prizes and a PA system. We figure if we start early we can make this a painless event.
CCA 2010 Christmas Party
Well, another year is almost over and the CCA Christmas party is now just a memory. The weather was not the best but, the party was great! It started as many of our events do, by meeting in Pooler and cursing up to SC; there were even some non-Corvettes in tow. The Christmas committee (Reeds, Spearmans, Troficantos) got there early to setup and decorate the beautiful Bostwick Pavilion on Moss Creek Plantation in SC. Of course, George was the Head Chef again this year with Dan Degood as his assistant Chef. There were some surprise guests at this years party; Joe & Beth Collier made it to this years party after a year in scenic Iraq. Hoyt is up and around with the assistance of a walker. Even a bigger surprise is that John Conley finally got a Corvette running! Everyone socialized and partook in some of their favorite Christmas cheer. Dinner was a Low Country favorite, low country boil and then all the seasonal favorites; ham, coleslaw, baked beans and all the fixings. There were tons of desserts, with Doris bringing loads of cookies and Bernadee Randall brought the over the top dessert. I hear the recipe will be emailed ASAP. Unfortunately, our own Dirty Santa Tony and his lovely wife were unable to attend, so Dave Reed stepped up to be Santa. I am not sure how they got Erika to be Santas helper again this year? She must have heard Tony could not make it. It was a very entertaining Dirty Santa gift exchange with some gifts being constantly traded; with the prized trade was a gift card from Stein Mart. After that the dreaded group photo was taken then the clean-up started. We have to thank the hard work by the Christmas Party Committee and all of those that gave a helping hand. We wish you the best for the upcoming holidays and a very Happy New Year.

CCA Attends the Savannah Christmas Parade on River St
On Saturday Dec 4th a group of 12 CCA members attended the Savannah Christmas Parade. The day started from the Piggly Wiggly parking lot to the staging area on West River Street under the Savannah Bridge. At the staging area, members lined-up and decorated their Corvettes. Everyone had some sort of decorations or lights on their Corvettes; there were a couple of cars with CCA Christmas signs, bows, tensile, garland and of course some lights. Kenny even gift wrapped his Corvette. Once the parade started it was down River Street at a snails pace up the ramp to Bay and then down Abercorn to Broughton and then to Ellis Square. In true form for our club, there was dinner to follow at Spankys in Pooler. Everyone had a great time and we need to plan on doing this again next year and hopefully have a few more Corvettes show up. We have to thank Kenny for getting us the application that allowed us to attend this years Christmas Parade.
