Modern day marvel: The Samsung TX-S3082WH

ver the past few years, the Samsung Corporation has made itself a major competitor in the TV market. A lot of consumers are in the market for LCD or flat panel televisions that conserve space and provide a sleek look for modern day furnishing. Samsung is still producing tube-based televisions that are the slim fit models. Im going to give a quick review of the Samsung TX-S3082WH model. I would like to start of by saying that this television has one of the best looking and most vibrant screens that I have ever seen. The model that I have acquired is a 30inch CRT screen with sleek black trim that gives it a very contemporary or modernized appearance. The next step to test the picture clarity was to pop in one of the most colorful and vibrant movies out there. And thats when I looked toward a DVD from Disney. I popped in one of my personal favorites Finding Nemo. During the first few minutes of the move, I was in awe. The colors of the characters were so vibrant it felt like my eyes were being treated to an all you can eat buffet! The color of the ocean made me feel like I was almost in the underwater world. This television offers multiple resolutions such as 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Unfortunately I didnt have a HD or HD conversion DVD player to test a resolution higher then 480p but it was more then enough of an eyeful to satisfy me. The TX-S3082WH offers Digital Direct SRS TruSurround sound that in my opinion is better than the standard sound that is normally built in the average television but its nothing to really scream about. Digital Direct SRS TruSurround does offer a virtual surround that would really benefit people who do not connect stereo systems to their televisions. The S3082 does offer good crisp stereo sound broadcast reception which includes MTS and SAP frequencies for analog and high definition channel viewing. One of the best things that I like about this television is the amount of input and outputs that it comes with. This television has 2 rear RF inputs, 2 rear HDMI inputs, 2 rear auto sensing component inputs, 1 side s-video input, and 2 sets of rear A/V inputs. A major option that makes this television stand out from others is that it offers not one but two HDMI inputs. HDMI or high definition multimedia interface is used to meet the demand of high definition audio and video by sending a wider and faster stream of signals from your device and into your television.
The slim fit Samsung models definitely live up to their names. The dimensions listed for this television measures to be 35.8"(W) x 22.4"(H) x 16.3"(D). If you arent any good at imagining measurements, then just imagine that the width of this television is about half the width of a normal CRT television. The weight of this television is about 117lbs which is more then the weight of a flat panel television but less then the average CRT television with the same screen size.
All in all I would give this television a rating of 8 out of 10. My major compliment to the television is definitely the performances of its tube. I think the colors and contrast on this television is better then most flat panel televisions. The menu interface on the television is pretty user friendly and is laid out pretty well and can also be customized. The remote that comes with this set is long and narrow which also offers a modern appearance. My major complaint about the set is that in order to switch from TV mode to component 2, you would have to one button to keep toggling through about 4 other sources to get to it instead of just having a button for component1,component2, etc. I would definitely recommend this TV to those who are looking to upgrade but are just not ready for the price of a very high end big screen television.
