Ukraine Gets the Samsung U800
For a retail price of less than 200 Euros
Samsung U800, the most recently released mobile phone from the Soul lineup of handsets, is now available in Ukraine, one of Europe's largest mobile markets in terms of the number of subscribers (about 55 million). Also called Samsung Soulb, the U800 was officially introduced to the world at the end of May, coming as the third member of the Soul family, which also includes the U900 slider and the G400 clamshell. To differentiate the U800 from the other two Souls, Samsung has designed a candybar case for it, which came out quite elegant. Moreover, the case is extremely slim, measuring only 9.9 millimeters in thickness and making the Soulb a perfect choice for fashion-conscious customers. Ukrainian mobile users can buy the U800 as of today, for the retail price of 1,400 hryvnia meaning about 185 Euros or slightly less than $280. Most probably, the handset can be found in all of Samsung's stores, as well as via the major mobile retailers from across Ukraine. Since it's a Soul phone, Samsung U800 offers a wide range of advanced features (although less advanced than the ones packed in the U900 and the G400 models). These include: a 2-inch TFT display with 16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels, 1 GB of internal memory, tri-band GSM connectivity (GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900) with GPRS and EDGE, HSDPA 2100 MHz connectivity, a 3 Megapixel camera with flash and video recording, Music player, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM radio with RDS, full HTML browser, email, document viewer, USB 2.0 and support for microSD / microSDHC cards (up to 8GB). For the time being, Samsung U800 is available in Ukraine only in the grey version, but it might soon be sold in other colors, as Samsung announced, back in May, that the handset would come out in silver, violet, pink and black, too.

Samsung U800, L870 and i900 Unveiled
Nice features and good looks
Samsung currently showcases three new mid to high-end mobile phones, in the Netherlands, at the TeleVisie 2008 fair (14 - 15 April). Previously unannounced (not officially at least), the handsets are Samsung U800, Samsung L870 and Samsung i900, and come to strengthen the South Korean company's line-up of evolved devices planned to be launched this year. Samsung U800 is apparently a new member of the Soul family, being a candybar version of the U900 model. The phone comes with quad-band 3G connectivity (UMTS), a 3.2 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, Music player and FM radio. Measuring only 111 x 46 x 9.8 millimeters, U800 is dressed in a metallic case and, like the other two Soul phones, it looks really nice. With an adequate marketing campaign, Samsung U800 has all the chances to become a best seller. Samsung L870 is a slider that runs on Symbian S60 and, well, it kind of resembles Nokia's N95 in design. The new handset measures 102 x 50 x 13.5 millimeters and packs a 3.0 Megapixel camera, GSM and UMTS connectivity, FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and a wide display of unknown resolution. Samsung i900 is a full touchscreen phone and runs on Windows Mobile 6.1. Measuring 112 x 56 x 13 millimeters, i900 offers a 5.0 Megapixel camera, tri-band GSM and tri-band UMTS connectivity, Wi-Fi, the latest Bluetooth and USB versions (2.0), and, probably, built-in GPS too. Aside from the above mentioned details, not much else is known about the three new Samsung phones. However, they will probably be launched starting the second half of 2008, for retail prices that will not allow everyone to buy them. Most probably, the most expensive of the three handsets will be i900, as it seems to offer the most evolved features.
