(G705) server issues

earect@hotmail.com 4 posts since Sep 9, 2010
I think I have a problem connecting to a server when using mobile internet.
For example; I have configured on my (G705) mobile phone a hotmail email account. When I check for new mails, he tries to connect to the (hotmail?) server but this always fails (keeps looking for server --> server not found). When using wifi, this does work. The same issue with SonyEricsson synchronisation. This can't connect to the server when using mobile internet, but it does work when using my wlan (wifi). It displays (translated from dutch): "Sony Ericsson / Session failed / Invalid server response" I also had an application which required connecting and uploading data to a server, and this didn't work either.
I'm using a SonyEricsson G705 (up-to-date firmware). The mobile internet I'm using is from my provider: Proximus (wap.proximus.be)
I don't know where the problem lies. I've tried all sort of settings.
Can anybody please help? This is really annoying.

In some cases wap data accounts restrict access to non browser based data services such as email, applications etc. To check if your handset comes pre-configured with an internet data account see settings > connectivity >internet settings > connect using > this will list the available data accounts. Commonly thier will be an account with reference to "internet" simply select and save. Then attempt to access your email. This can also be done directly from the email account settings just select > connnect using (chooses account).
If this doesnt resolve the issue or thier are no additional data accounts, you will need to contact your operator. In most cases they can send the correct settings via SMS, or alternatively you may be able to source them via thier website.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the fast answer.
But I did have correct internet settings. I requested them via the SonyEricsson website and the mobile internet works fine. I do have another question; when you go to your internet settings, you get 'connect using' and 'allow local connections' (translated from dutch). What does this 'allow local connections' mean? If I set this to no, I have less problems. It doesn't solve them all; checking for email works, syncing with SE still doesn't.
I also can't login to hotmail using mobile internet. I go to the website mobile.live.com. I'm logged in (i see status updates and stuff). But when I navigate to 'inbox', it gives the following error (after having to re-sign in): "http error 404 requested document was not found". Doing the same steps while connected via wifi gives no problems.

I think I partially solved my own problem. What I did was:
I had an internet account with settings APN: wap.proximus.be and allow local connections: yes (meaning he isn't restricted to use the mobile internet???) I use this one for surfing on my mobile phone.
I copied this account but changed APN to: internet.proximus.be. And used that one for configuring my email and for synchronizing. So this works now!! I can't use this one for normal surfing however, so I need both accounts.

I don't think that setting 'allow for local connections' to yes or no made a difference.
Not quite sure that all my problems are solved, but the most important ones are. Finally, after many days of trial and error

Correct browsing the web will work with the wap settings, so lets try this, select settings > connectivity > internet settings > Connect Using > Select > highlight wap data account select Options > edit > APN > and change to internet.proximus.be select "save" and select back. Then attempt to access email.
