Conditions

A rechargeable battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times. However, it will eventually wear out this is not a defect. When the talk-time or standby time is noticeably shorter, it is time to replace your battery. Sony Ericsson recommends that you use only batteries and chargers approved by Sony Ericsson. Minor variations in display brightness and colour may occur between phones. There may be tiny bright or dark dots on the display. These are called defective pixels and occur when individual dots have malfunctioned and can not be adjusted. Two defective pixels are deemed acceptable. Minor variations in camera image appearance may occur between phones. This is nothing uncommon and is not regarded as a defective camera module. 4 Since the cellular system on which the Product is to operate is provided by a carrier independent from Sony Ericsson, Sony Ericsson will not be responsible for the operation, availability, coverage, services or range of that system. 5 This warranty does not cover Product failures caused by installations, modifications, or repair or opening of the Product performed by a non- Sony Ericsson authorised person. 6 The warranty does not cover Product failures which have been caused by use of accessories or other peripheral devices which are not Sony Ericsson branded original accessories intended for use with the Product.

k608i exporting sent/saved texts?
DOUGIENEUTRON 4 posts since May 23, 2011

Good Day All.

New phone is a HTC Desire, and of course I can only have one of them working at one time. I transferred the contacts via the sim card, but can I get the stored text messages/ring tones/ etc. from the Sony to the HTC, or even to my PC via the SE PC Suite?

Many thanks - Doug

http://www.fjsoft.at/en/highlight.php Use My Phone Explorer, which supports both your phones, to transfer data between your two phones via your PC.This application is especially good for text messages.Hope this helps.

Thank You Doctor.

Successfully downloaded the Sony to the PC, and I'm sure I'll be able to finish the job when I get the PC to recognise the recipient phone.

Regards - Doug

Hello Dr_Chris.

It was all going so well. I got the recipient phone recognised within MyPhoneExplorer, and used "download all" for the various groups of messages plus the phone contacts. Now they've departed MPE, but haven't appeared in the "messages" list on the HTC (which puts everything in one list).
Guess I should have attempted to Archive the data in MPE before downloading.
Haven't yet discovered how to interrogate the micro SD card in the HTC; I assume thats where the stuff went!
I realise this is primarily a Sony Ericsson forum, and I'll try to find help from MPE, but in the meantime, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You again for the original referral to MPE.

With regards to MPE, from the Extras tab on the top right, you can select Create backup (of messages/contacts) and then, with your other phone connected to MPE, select Restore backup from the same tab.Hope this helps.Let me know if this makes things easier and/or if there's anything else about MPE you don't understand.

I appreciate your continuing patience Dr-Chris.
I've re-discovered that under File>User there are two entries, Doug k608i and Doug HTC. The former still contains all the contacts (sim and phone) plus all the messages (SMS) that I downloaded from the (old) Sony.
I notice that when I open one of these from My Documents on the PC, it automatically opens MPE to display them. Will these backups remain intact during any downloading or other manipulation I attempt in MPE?
It would seem the thing to do is ensure I'm in "Doug k608i", hook up the HTC recipient phone and press "Download Entire"? or is there a better way? I would have thought this course of action was the one I followed before, but can't be sure.

Yes, that should work as well. There's a few ways of transferring/downloading contacts/ messages/etc between phones via MPE.Just make sure you have a backup of all your data via MPE, although even using the "Downloading entire" feature should still preserve the data in MPE.
