Got this yesterday from CP after seeing it at the PC show. The new camera from Sony is very promising and will create a new segment in the market.

I think after playing with a few micro4/3 cameras (Panasonic, Olympus), I settled on this primarily because of size and price.

I am a pro and this is my goto camera for holidays. I just bought the NEX-VG10 for video. It badly needs a hot shoe accessory to use a real flash.

Great photos but some flaws From previously owning a Canon PowerShot G9 I wanted the next step without the bulk of SLRs. Sony NEX-5 I reluctantly started to take photographs digitally around six years ago when my Dad said he felt the quality of pictures could potentially...

Awesome camera, fun to use, simple to figure out. I also bought the 16mm lens currently available. Buy the 18-55mm first. The 16mm is not as useful as it would be on the smaller sensors of say.

A great little camera Having read all the internet reviews, my main doubts concerned the menu system of the Nex 5. Professional Camera in a small package This camera is superb, if your someone who is tired of carrying around heavy SLR kit.

You should buy it, its a great and really really small and pretty camera. Size, image and video quality and features ; none I care about ;

Aperture setting is maintained in movie recording mode
If you start recording movies, the camera used to adjust the aperture automatically. However, the aperture setting is maintained even after you start recording movies in Background Defocus Control mode and A (Aperture Priority) mode. The following information will be displayed. - Shoot mode (Bkground Defocus or A) - F-value
You cannot adjust the aperture during movie recording.

Autofocus function with A-mount lenses
Upgrading Mount Adaptor LA-EA1 (sold separately) makes autofocus (Single-shot AF) possible when an A-mount SAM or SSM lens is attached to the camera. You can also use autofocus (Single-shot AF) in movie recording mode by pressing the shutter button halfway down. For information on upgrading the Mount Adaptor, please visit the Sony Support web site. http://www.sony.net/
You cannot use the AF illuminator when using an A-mount lens. The autofocus speed will be slower compared to when an E-mount lens is attached. The sound of the lens and the camera in operation may be recorded during movie recording. You can avoid this by selecting [Menu] t [Setup] t [Movie Audio Rec] t [Off]. It may take a long time or may be difficult for the camera to focus, depending on the lens used or the subject.
