Press and hold both sides of the connector and then pull out the connector.

A high sound quality digital signal format. It records audio at a sampling frequency and bit rate of 96kHz/24bit which is the highest possible for DVD-video. The number of playback channels varies depending on the software.
x PCM (Pulse Code Modulation)
A method of converting analog audio to digital audio for easy enjoyment of digital sound.
x S-AIR (Sony Audio Interactive Radio frequency)
Recent times have seen the rapid spread of DVD media, Digital Broadcasting, and other high quality media. To ensure that the subtle nuances of these high quality media are transmitted with no deterioration, Sony has developed a technology called S-AIR for the radio transmission of digital audio signals with no compression, and has incorporated this technology into the EZWRT10/EZW-T100. This technology transfers digital audio signals with no compression using the 2.4 GHz band range of ISM band (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical band), such as wireless LANs and Bluetooth applications.

x DTS Digital Surround

Digital audio encoding/decoding technology for theaters developed by DTS, Inc. It compresses audio less than Dolby Digital, delivering a higher quality sound reproduction.

x DTS-ES

Format for 6.1 channel playback with surround back information. There are two modes, Discrete 6.1 which records all channels independently, and Matrix 6.1 which matrixes surround back channel into LS (left surround) and RS (right surround) channels. It is ideal for playback of motion picture soundtracks.

x Sampling frequency

To convert analog audio to digital, analog data should be quantified. This process is called sampling, and the number of times per second the analog data is quantified is called the sampling frequency. A standard music CD stores data quantified at 44,100 times per second, which is expressed as a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz. Generally speaking, a higher sampling frequency means better sound quality.

Precautions

On safety
Should any solid object or liquid fall into the cabinet, unplug the receiver and have it checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further.

On power sources

Before operating the receiver, check that the operating voltage is identical with your local power supply. The operating voltage is indicated on the nameplate on the back of the receiver. The unit is not disconnected from the AC power source (mains) as long as it is connected to the wall outlet, even if the unit itself has been turned off. If you are not going to use the receiver for a long time, be sure to disconnect the receiver from the wall outlet. To disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead), grasp the plug itself; never pull the cord. One blade of the plug is wider than the other for the purpose of safety and will fit into the wall outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, contact your dealer. The AC power cord (mains lead) must be changed only at a qualified service shop.

If the problem persist

Consult your nearest Sony dealer. Note that if service personnel changes some parts during repair, these parts may be retained. In the event of a problem with S-AIR function, have a Sony dealer check the entire system together (S-AIR main unit and S-AIR sub unit).

Make sure the plus (+) and the minus () terminals on the speakers are matched to the corresponding plus (+) and minus () terminals on the amplifier. Make sure all connections are firm. Contact between bare speaker wires at the speaker terminals may cause a short circuit. Be sure to tighten the screws of the speaker terminals securely as loose screws may become a source of noise.
Activate the auto power on/off function. If the subwoofer is on and there is no signal input for a few minutes, the ON/STANDBY indicator changes to red and the subwoofer enters power saving mode. If a signal is input to the subwoofer, the subwoofer automatically turns on.

Troubleshooting

Should you encounter a problem with your speaker system, check the following list and take the indicated measures. If the problem persists, consult your nearest Sony dealer. There is no sound from the speaker system. Make sure all the connections have been correctly made. Make sure the volume on the amplifier has been turned up properly. Make sure the program source selector on the amplifier is set to the proper source. Check if headphones are connected. If they are, disconnect them. Make sure that the subwoofer isnt in power saving mode. If you turn down the volume level too low, the auto power on/off function may activate, causing the subwoofer to enter power saving mode. There is distortion in the subwoofer sound output. Check if any sound-enhancing functions have been activated on the amplifier. If they have, turn them off. If the sound distorts when you turn on the bass reinforcement from your amplifier (such as DBFB, GROOVE, the graphic equalizer, etc.), turn down the bass reinforcement and adjust the level. There is hum or noise in the speaker output. Make sure all the connections have been correctly made. Make sure none of the audio components are positioned too close to the TV set. If the volume level of the subwoofer is turned up to maximum, extraneous noise may be output. The sound has suddenly stopped. Make sure all the connections have been correctly made. Contact between bare speaker wires at the speaker terminals may cause a short circuit. Bass sounds are produced too heavily. Some material is recorded with strong emphasis on bass sounds, which may be excessive in some cases. If this happens, rotate BASS BOOST towards minimum. Howling occurs. Reposition the speakers or turn down the volume on the amplifier.
