Sony SMP-N100 Network Media Player Hooks You Up to BRAVIA Internet Video
BRAVIA Internet TV is a feature many owners of Sony HDTVs have come to enjoy quite a lot, and for this reason, the Japanese company has decided to allow users to enjoy this impressive source of online content in other rooms as well, with the launch of their brand-new SMP-N100, a compact 'Network Media Player' unit also offering Wi-Fi connection to a home network, and DLNA compatibility to stream a wide range of audio and video content. Using the SMP-N100's built-in BRAVIA Internet Video link, users can gain fast and easy access to such features as the BBC iPlayer and Demand Five, access the world's best-known video services, such as YouTube, or even rent movies. What's more, the SMP-N100 features "Video On Demand powered by Qriocity" giving instant on-demand access to the latest Hollywood blockbusters and classic movies in a choice of HD or standard definition. And with full 1080P video output on HDMI, and compatibility with the latest high-definition audio codecs, including dts 2.0+Digital Out and DOLBY DIGITAL PLUS, users are sure to enjoy quite an impressive entertainment experience. As well as BRAVIA Internet Video, the SMP-N100 is compatible with a wide range of file formats (including DivXHD, MKV and AVCHD) and has Sony's IP Content Noise Reduction to improve streamed video. Furthermore, it's also important to mention that all of the device's functions and features are accessed through simple XrossMedia Bar on-screen menus or via free apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch and Android-based devices. The SMP-N100 will be available in October 2010, but, unfortunately, pricing details have not been provided, at least for the time being.
