I love this product because I have 6 disc CD ...  With the optional upgrades, this vehicle fits in with some of the best.

This is my first Suzuki, but if the next 100,...  Good power and pick up for a small car, love having the choice of FWD.

ALL-NEW 2008 SUZUKI SX4 SPORT OFFERS TRUNKLOADS OF FUNCTIONALITY
Suzuki delivers a stylish and fun-to-drive yet affordable four-door Infused with the Suzuki Swifts DNA, the SX4 Sport finds a niche in the U.S. market. Class-leading standard features put the SX4 Sport ahead of its competition
The four-door SX4 Sport brings award-winning handling capabilities of the Suzuki Swift, which won more than 16 international awards, to the U.S. market. Having wowed journalists and drivers throughout the world, the sporty Swift character embodied in the SX4 Sport can now be enjoyed by U.S. consumers. Suzukis development benchmark for the SX4 Sport was to meet or beat the Swift on key dynamic performance attributes in order to win the hearts of the American consumer. SX4s appeal goes beyond its performance capabilities, as it offers bold youthful styling along with a generous list of standard features and a surprisingly roomy interior. Targeted toward younger buyers, the SX4 Sport represents a core model for Suzuki that has a personality distinct from its competitors. The all-new 2008 Suzuki SX4 Sport is the automotive cousin to the five-door SX4 Crossover and is designed to ease the day-in, day-out urban grind for its drivers. Sharing a common appeal for those who live a life consistent with Suzukis Way of Life brand philosophy, the SX4 Sport and SX4 Crossover seamlessly blend into varied driving conditions and environments. As with all 2008 Suzuki automobiles, the SX4 Sport is backed by Americas #1 Warranty: a 100,000-mile/seven-year, fully transferable, zero-deductible powertrain limited warranty. Powertrain Built in Japan, the SX4 Sport features a sophisticated 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC engine matched to a five-speed manual transmission or an available specially tuned four-speed automatic transmission. -more-

The responsive engines strong low-end torque provides the fun-to-drive feeling commuters and weekenders crave, and is more powerful than segment volume leaders. The 2.0-liter engine delivers 143 horsepower and 136 lb.-ft. of torque, with an estimated EPA fuel economy rating of 23 mpg/city and 31 mpg/highway with automatic transmission. Dynamic Handling The SX4 Sport shares some key design elements with the Suzuki Swift and features a rigid steel unibody underpinned by a confidence-inspiring chassis that was fine-tuned in Europe to provide good stability on the highway along with crisp and responsive handling and braking and minimal body roll. Its rigid structure, along with reinforced suspension mounts, allows the front MacPherson struts and rear torsion beam suspension to work to their full potential. The sport-tuned suspension with 10mm (0.4 in) lower ride height compared to the SX4 Crossover, KYB performance shocks and standard stabilizer bars deliver dynamic, responsive handling. Steering and yaw performance, skid pad performance, braking performance, and body roll and brake force control of the SX4 Sport are superior to that of the Swift. The combination of a wide track and large 17-inch wheels with low profile 50 Series tires help optimize the ride-and-handling balance. Driving in Confidence The SX4 Sport offers customers an extensive array of standard safety features. Active safety features include daytime running lights, four-wheel Bosch disc brakes with ABS and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Passive safety elements include a safety-reinforced body with front and rear crumple zones designed to help absorb impact energy. The unibody structure is designed to direct impact energy away from the reinforced cabin area. Six airbags are standard on the SX4 Sport: driver and front passenger advanced frontal airbags and side-impact airbags; and side curtain airbags designed to provide additional protection for outboard front- and rear-seat passengers. Additionally, the SX4 Sport is fitted with front three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, three-point emergency locking retractor rear seat belts, ISO FIX-compliant child seat anchors, LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) and a high-mounted stop lamp. The Electronic Stability Program1 (ESP) is available on SX4 Sport Touring models and provides outstanding safety and control. The system uses the SX4 Sports electronic brake and traction control systems to measure vehicle speed, steering wheel angle and yaw faster than a typical driver. This information is sent to a central controller that can intervene as needed. -more-

Under certain conditions, such as when unintended oversteer or understeer is detected, the system can apply individual brakes and reduce engine torque to help the driver maintain the proper cornering line. Together with the traction control system, ESP helps the driver maintain control when cornering, under acceleration, during emergency maneuvers and/or when driving on slippery road surfaces. Styling that gets noticed Suzuki has created a handsome, versatile car with poise and presence far beyond the SX4 Sports compact size and price. The SX4 Sport features bold style from Suzukis own design studio in Japan. A large Suzuki S over the honeycomb mesh grille is used to accentuate the sporty attributes of the vehicle and distinguish the Suzuki brand from its bland-looking competition. The body features a low, rising waistline and large, triangular-shaped windows forward of the front doors, giving the SX4 Sport a sporty wedge shape indicative of its outstanding dynamic performance. The wide track, standard 17-inch alloy wheels and flared fenders also add to the appearance of traction and dynamic performance. Where the SX4 Crossover offers a wide-open cargo area, the SX4 Sport provides generous, secure storage within its oversized trunk. Whether using the car personally or professionally, owners will enjoy the spacious cargo area, one of the largest in the segment. A rear deck lid spoiler is available to complete the look. Amenity-filled Interior The stylish design continues inside the SX4 Sport. A functional and high-tech center panel offers large, circular controls flanked by modern aluminum-colored trim. Instruments and controls seem to float as they are backlit by contemporary, high-tech red lighting, and the ergonomic design of the instrument cluster and dashboard provides clear views of the meters and easy access to the controls for a true driver-oriented cabin. The sporty cockpit theme extends throughout the cabin with a dark interior featuring black cloth for a look both sharp and refined. The handsome integrated center stack contains a standard AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with four speakers or an available six-disc in-dash CD AM/FM/MP3 audio system with nine speakers (including subwoofer). Both audio systems are XM Satellite Radio-capable. It is a striking example of function complementing form. Customers who want the convenience of a fully integrated iPod2 system can purchase a Suzuki iPod interface from their Suzuki dealer. -more-

Once the device is plugged in, it works seamlessly through the radio or the steering-wheelintegrated controls and playlists and each songs information appears on the radio display. Also available on a dealer-installed basis is Suzukis Bluetooth3 connectivity option. Equally distinctive in the segment is the availability of a SmartPass keyless entry and start system on the Touring trim level. With seating for five, the SX4 Sport offers both utility and style. Driver and passenger comfort is excellent due to the large cabin proportions. The in-command seating position provides a higher hpoint than the competition and optimizes visibility for driving confidence and control along with superior ease of entry and egress. The expansive interior provides both driver and passengers with room to relax, and the exterior dimensions provide outstanding maneuverability for crowded city streets and parking areas. With generous legroom and shoulder room, even for the rear-seat passengers, interior volumes are equal to or better than volume leaders in the segment, and provide class-leading headroom. Beyond the generous interior, the trunk boasts 15 cubic feet of space, offering 20 percent more storage space than some segment leaders. In addition, there are many discreet storage compartments located throughout the cabin, and all the doors feature large pockets and bottle holders for added convenience. Trim Levels and Packages The 2008 SX4 Sport is one of the best equipped compact cars in America, with more standard features than cars costing thousands more. The base SX4 Sports standard features include six airbags (driver and front passenger advanced frontal and side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags for all outboard seating positions) four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), tire pressure monitoring system, trip computer, front seatbelt pretensioners, power windows, locks and mirrors, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with four speakers, tilt steering wheel, aero body package, 17-inch alloy wheels and floor mats. The starting MSRP for the SX4 Sport is $14,770. Destination and handling charges are $625. The SX4 Sport also offers two optional packages: Convenience and Touring. The Convenience Package adds cruise control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls, automatic climate control and heated outside mirrors. The starting MSRP for the SX4 with the Convenience Package is $15,270. -more-

EMBARGO: AUGUST 1, 2009 SUZUKI ADDS SX TO THE CITY
New SX4 SportBack adds enhanced level of Sport to utility Refinements in drivetrain boost performance and efficiency Americas #1 Warranty underscores Japanese build quality and refinement
BREA, Calif. Since its introduction in 2007, Suzukis SX4 Crossover has established a following by seamlessly blending the nimble handling of a compact five-door with the adventure sport capability of standard all-wheel drive. Remaining, over its three model years, Americas least expensive automotive offering with all-wheel drive, the SX4 continues to capture media attention and praise. KelleyBlueBook.com has recognized the SX4 as one of its Top 10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000, while the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) awarded the SX4 with its Yankee Value Award for three consecutive years. In 2008, Suzuki added to its menu a four-door, sport-oriented sedan, the SX4 Sport. With a lowered ride height, sport-tuned suspension and asphalt-specific rubber, the SX4 Sport continues to attract singles, couples, families and any car-shopper seeking quality, comfort and capability minus the high cost normally associated with such a combination. The SX4 Sport delivers all the inherent value of the SX4 Crossover, and adds a chassis dynamic often reserved for those compacts with a German and not Asian pedigree. With the 2009 model year boasting the addition of standard navigation a segment first Suzuki brings the SX4 Crossover into 2010 in an all-new guise, one combining the practicality of a five-door hatch and the neo-aggressive dynamic of a Eurocentric sport sedan. Sharing its profile and utility with the allwheel-drive SX4 Crossover, the new SX4 SportBack brings to the generous greenhouse and usable two-box profile a handling dynamic fully appropriate to late braking and apex chasing. The SX4 SportBack, of course, isnt new territory for the design team at Suzuki. With its latest iteration of the Suzuki Swift introduced in both Europe and Asia in 2005 Suzuki has demonstrated its almost innate knowledge of both practical packaging and daring dynamic. As the winner of numerous media awards and consumer acclaim the Swift fully matches the more established hot hatches with its vehicular groove, while substantially undercutting the segment in affordability. From its inception, the SX4 borrowed both the Swifts handling DNA along with select platform bits to convey the spirit of a world-class entrant. And with the launch of the new SX4 SportBack, the various bits and pieces of earlier models have blossomed at least dynamically into a full-fledged cloning. Beyond the SX4 SportBacks functional modifications are visual enhancements to its exterior, and numerous refinements inside. This exterior/interior update makes the SX4 SportBack that much better for enjoying the enhanced driving experience. Outside, the SportBack prospects will note the deletion of the roof-mounted rack, along with the addition of a subtle albeit effective aero package, along with minor tweaks to both bumper and grille. A modest chin spoiler and side skirts direct air flow beneath the car, while a revised rear spoiler above the backlight better manages air over the car. Inside, passenger comfort and convenience are addressed by more than a dozen improvements, including power windows and locks, dual power rearview mirrors, tilt steering wheel, trip computer, split folding rear seats and rear passenger floor vents. The SportBacks interior trim enjoys an all-new instrument cluster, aluminum-look accents, a four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with MP3 and XM Satellite Radio compatibility, a drivers information center and armrest for the drivers seat. Integrated navigation, made standard on the 2009 SX4, continues on the 2010 SX4 SportBack with notable enhancements: Airline arrival and departures, 3D graphics, lane guidance and Doppler weather maps. In addition, the folding rear seats and concealed storage behind those seats provide a completely flat load surface, which is perfect for the SX4 SportBacks activity-oriented consumer target. The good news continues under the hood. Since its introduction, the SX4 has benefited from a full 2.0 liters of displacement. That capacity, a little more than 120 cubic inches, provides a competitive edge when contrasted with the bulk of the SX4s competitive segment; there, displacements of 1.6-1.8 liters are more often the norm. With this newest iteration, however, Suzuki utilizes an all-new 2.0-liter engine, boasting five percent more horsepower and 4 lb.-ft. of additional torque, while delivering in the EPA cycle 30 highway miles per gallon. This, in a larger 2.4-liter displacement, is the same engine architecture scheduled for the soon-to-be-announced Suzuki sport sedan. (more)

As before, the 16-valve valvetrain is controlled by dual overhead cams. From the same company building the worlds fastest production motorcycle, one might expect competitive performance, and this new 2.0 liter delivers: 150 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, in combination with 140 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,500 rpm. Beyond the numbers are a fluid delivery, instant responsiveness and a much smaller carbon footprint. Connecting the improved powerplant to the SX4 SportBacks front wheels is the choice of six-speed manual or all-new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). With the addition of an extra cog, the SX4 SportBack driver benefits from six degrees of separation, especially when placing the Suzuki in its competitive segment. Ratios are more closely spaced, allowing the driver to stay in the sweet spot of the powerband throughout the acceleration cycle. And while the closely spaced ratios improve acceleration when merging or passing, the overdrive sixth allows for relaxed cruising at highway speeds, optimizing the driving experience while minimizing the SX4 SportBacks thirst. For added urban convenience, the new CVT optimizes via console-mounted gear selector or paddle shifters both performance and efficiency, better maintaining the engines rpm sweet spot over a wide range of both in-town and freeway driving. The CVT, having already proven itself in both Asia and Europe, is enjoying an increased awareness and growing acceptance in North America. The SX4 SportBacks suspension retains MacPherson struts in the front, with a rear torsion beam in the back. Tuned to sport mode, and following the tradition of the urban-oriented SX4 sold in European markets, the SX4 SportBack benefits from a lower ride height, performance shocks and standard antiroll bars. In testing by Suzukis platform team, steering and yaw performance, skid pad performance, braking and brake force control proved to be superior to the well-regarded Swift. Serving to further enhance the ride-and-handling balance are 17-inch alloy rims sporting 205/50 all-season Dunlops. The sticky, low-profile radials contribute to the SX4 SportBacks sure braking, as do standard four-wheel, fade-resistant discs. With more consumers interested in bringing to life the fun in functionality, Suzuki expects the SX4 SportBack to further build on the SX4s already-expansive appeal. Entering its fourth model year, Suzukis volume leader looks to turn up the volume, bringing the hot hatch segment to Suzuki showrooms throughout the country. (more)
