Black Violin 10-11 Hospitality & Technical Rider
Hospitality Requirements Accommodations: Four (4) single hotel rooms, 3-star quality or better, within 20mile radius of venue. Preferred Hotels include: Hampton Inn Comfort Inn & Suites Candlewood Suites Holiday Inn Any Hilton or Marriot branch Dressing Rooms: Either one (1) large dressing room or one (1) large green room near the location where the performance will take place. The room should consist of the following: One (1) Mirror Five (5) chairs minimum One (1) couch (if possible) One (1) large table Working electrical outlets Hot & Cold running water Clean, private lavatory with toilet tissue and soap Twelve (12) new white towels 4 AA Batteries One (1) color TV One (1) DVD Player One (1) stereo with CD One (1) cooler w/ ice One (1) bag of ice Condiments, utensils, trashcans, etc. Twelve (12) assorted Dole or Tropicana juices (apple, orange, grapefruit, fruit punch, etc.) Twelve (12) assorted Vitamin Waters. Eight (8) 450 mL Bolthouse Farms smoothies (Vanilla Chai Tea, Mango Madness, Berry Boost, C-Boost) Twelve (12) bottles waters, preferably Fiji. Herbal Teas (peppermint, chamomile, Echinacea, etc.) Honey, 2 whole lemons One (1) fresh fruit tray (watermelon, grapes, oranges, strawberries, mango, papaya, banana) One (1) fresh Deli tray, 1 head of lettuce, tomato tray, with whole wheat and white bread Assorted Munchies (candy, chips & chocolate chip & Oreo cookies), Halls cough drops Fresh Sushi Rolls Combination of California rolls, JB rolls, tuna rolls, or salmon rolls.
Meals (Lunch/Dinner): In situations where the Presenter has agreed to provide Black Violin with a meal, the following suggestions would be appreciated by the group: Menu to order from either: Cheese Cake Factory, P.F. Changs, Fridays, Ruby Tuesday, Outback, Applebees, or a similar takeout restaurant near the venue. **Please no pizza or KFC** When catering will be provided for the group, please ensure that one (1) vegetarian meal will be order. Meals for four (4) people will be required in total. All catering and hospitality should be confirmed with Black Violin tour manager, George Green, prior to event date. Technical Requirements The equipment listed below is necessary to be properly and adequately prepared for a Black Violin performance. You will be notified ahead of time of any changes. Black Violin travels with two (2) TC Electronic Nova Systems that plug directly into a stage mixer or a total of 4 DI Boxes. Each violin that plugs into the Nova System requires a stereo connection. Therefore 2 DI Boxes will be needed for each violin. Sound Requirements: Presenter agrees to provide: 4 Available RCA wires 6 Quarter inch wires 4 XLR wires 6 DI Boxes (Mandatory) 4 quad box power sources Presenter agrees to provide all necessary DJ Equipment: 1. 2 Turntables, Preferred Brand: Technics 1210 or 1200 Vinyl Turntables Acceptable Substitutes: Pioneer CDJ-1000 MK2 CD Turntables Technics MKIII 1200 CD Turntables Pioneer CDJ-800 Tabletop CD Turntables Numark CDX CD Turntables Denon DN-S5000 Tabletop CD Turntables 2. Two (2) Phono & Two (2) line inputs mixers with cross-fader Preferred Brands: Pioneer DJM-400, Pioneer DJM-600, Pioneer DJM-800, Pioneer DJM-1200, Rane TTM 57 Performance Mixer, Rane TTM 56 Performance Mixer Acceptable Substitutes: Pioneer DJM600 4-Channel Mixer or Similar Pioneer Models Vestax PMC-05Pro3 Mixer or similar Vestax Models Technics SHEX1200 Mixer Any model mixer that has at least 2 phono & 2 line inputs with a crossfader. These channels are needed for a Serato Scratch Live external interface that hooks up to an Apple Macbook Pro that the DJ uses.
Presenter agrees to provide adequate House System: HOUSE SYSTEM to include: 1. A 3-way actively, crossed-over speaker system capable of producing an undistorted 110 db SPL at any seat in the house. The system should be flown where possible. 2. 40 by 10 House console Preferred consoles brands include: Gamble, Midas, Yamaha, PM 4K, & Soundcraft 3. Klark Teknik 1/3 Octave Equalizers 4. Ten (10) DBX 160X compressor/limiters 5. One (1) Klark Teknik DN360 Spectrum Analyzer w/calibrated microphone. 6. Two (2) Digital Reverbs Presenter agrees to provide adequate House System: 7. One (1) 8. Two (2) 9. One (1) 10. One (1) Yamaha SPX 990 Digital Effect Processor Digital Delay Unit (PCM 42, TC 2290, Roland3k, etc.) Stereo C.D. Player Lexicon PCM 91 Digital Reverberator

Talkback to stage and communication between house & monitors is essential Presenter agrees to provide adequate Monitor System: 1. 40 by 10 Consoles, Midas, Ramsa or equivalent (Yamaha 2408 not acceptable) 2. Eight (8) Klark Teknik 1/3 Octave Equalizers 3. Four (4) DBX 160 Comp/limiter 4. Eleven (11) Matched Bi-amped Monitor Wedges (cue wedge included) 5. Two (2) Three-Way Side fill Monitor Stacks (2 18in. subs per side, 2 EAW KF850/SB850 stacks) 6. One (1) Clearcom with 4 headsets and at least 2 channels Microphone Requirements: Four (4) Shure SM58 Four (4) Shure UHF SM 58 Handheld Wireless Mics Four (4) DIs Stand Requirements: Three (3) Straight stands w/ bases not tripods One (1) Short boom w/ base One (1) Tall boom w/ tripod Technical Notes: Sufficient snakes, cables and mic stands must be provided to patch the above equipment. These are Black Violins requirements only support acts must have additional mics and cables made available so that Black Violin equipment & consoles stay set up during any/all support act show. Inputs will not be shared. Preferred Equipment List: EAW KF850 system must be provided at all times. If this is not possible in your region, please refer below for suitable substitutions. CONSOLES: Listed Above SPEAKERS: EAW KF850, V-DOSC, S4, EV MT-4 or equiv. (sufficient sub-bass cabinets must be provided as they are a critical part of the musical performance/program.) AMPLIFIERS: CROWN or QSC
Presenter agrees to provide Stage Accessories: Risers: 8 by 6 by 2 risers w/ 8 by 12 piece of black duvatine for dressing. RISER MUST BE SOLID AND FREE FROM VIBRATION TO PREVENT RECORDS FROM SKIPPING. Tables: One (1) 8 Banquet style table Presenter agrees to provide adequate Lighting, Effects and Misc: 2 x 40 Double Hung Thomas Trussing (front & rear) 60 Chromed Par 64 lighting fixtures Suitable Console Black Scrim All necessary dimming and cabling 1 Bar of backdrop Rosco 1500 Smoke machines 1 large industrial fan Rider Notes: This rider has been created with larger venues (800 cap+) in mind. If Back Violin will be performing in a smaller venue, the essential rider items include: 1. House PA System 2. Mixing Board with minimum 10 inputs 3. Four (4) Microphones, preferably all wireless 4. Two (2) turntables and One (1) mixer 5. Four (4) monitors
