TimeandEase:Easy Under30minutes Tools/Supplies:Sparkplug,plugwrenchorsocket,rag,screwdriver Step1:Opentheriderseat.Pullupthestoragecompartmentmatandthentakeoffthe sparkplugcoverbyremovingthescrews.(Thereareseveralpicturesbelowtohelpyou) Step2:Removethesparkplugcapandthenremovethesparkplug.Youcanusethe wrenchprovidedinyourtoolkitorastandardsparkplugsocketwilldoaswell. Step3:Checkthat theporcelaininsulatoraroundthecenterelectrodeofthesparkplugis amediumtolighttan(theidealcolorwhenthevehicleisdrivennormally). Step4:Checkthesparkplugforelectrodeerosionandexcessivecarbonorotherdeposits andreplaceisnecessary.(NGKplugsCR7EorCR7EIXrecommended) Step5:IfNOTreplacing,measurethegapwithawirethicknessgaugeand,ifnecessary, adjusttospecifications(seepicturebelow).Cleanthesurfaceofthesparkpluggasket anditsmatingsurface,thenwipeanygrimefromthesparkplugthreads. Step6:IfreplacingwithNEWplug,installtheplugwithasparkplugwrenchandtighten ittospecifiedtorque.(12.5Nm,1.25mkgf,9ft.lb.)Ifatorquewrenchisnotavailableat timeofreplacement,agoodestimateofthecorrecttorqueistoturnafterfinger tight.However,sparkplugshouldbetightenedtospecifiedtorqueassoonaspossible. Step7:Installsparkplugcapandmakesurethatthesparkplugwireisfastenedtothe clampasshownbelow. Step8:Installsparkplugcoverandscrews.Theninstallthecompartmentmatandyoure done!
