The YAS-71 is fully compatible with Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II to provide surround sound from all sources. Although the YAS-71 system is primarily recommended for smaller rooms, it can be effectively used in larger rooms as well. Within the front surround module, two woofers and one tweeter are provided for each channel. The system delivers a full 210 watts of power including 70 watts from right and left channels, and 70 watts from the subwoofer. Users can choose from four surround listening modes (music, movie, sports and game), and between narrow and wide listening zone modes depending on the rooms size to optimize their audio experience. The YAS-71 is iPod-compatible via the optional Yamaha YDS-11 dock ($99.95 MSRP) and wireless Bluetooth devices such as laptops, cell phones and PDAs via the optional Yamaha YBA-10 Bluetooth wireless audio receiver ($129.95 MSRP). It allows you to listen to clear dialogue and other sounds from the front, specific sounds from the other channels to the sides and rear, and smooth sound movement around you. The experience is completely different from other virtual surround systems, which project most of the sounds in front of you, with only a weak surround effect to the sides and none to the rear. You won't believe the sound is coming from a one bar system! The subwoofer delivers all the powerful bass you expect from multichannel music and movie sources. Extended Stereo Another new technology featured in the YAS71, Extended Stereo moves the stereo image further to the sides. With an 800mm (31-1/2) wide unit, it is as if you are listening from speakers that are 2 meters (2.19 ft) apart from each other.
