Technical Support for Replacement of XM Digital Radio Receivers - kw accessory aftermarket antenna inoperative U2K XMradio #PIC3228 (Nov 9, 2004)
Technical Support for Replacement of XM Digital Radio Receivers. The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may report their XM radio is inoperative. Dealers seeking technical support or replacement of XM Digital radio receivers must ensure the XM system is factory installed (U2K) or an OEM GM approved kit. (Currently available on the GMT800 trucks only).
Recommendation/Instructions:
A check of GM VIS should be performed to determine if the vehicle is equipped with factory installed XM Radio RPO (U2K) or a GM approved GMT800 kit (XM antenna will be the same as the factory installed antenna and mounted in the same location). GM TAC is only able to assist with the diagnostics, repair and part restriction for OEM installed or approved kits. All other GM non-approved aftermarket kits in need of technical support, sales, warranty and or installation questions, etc should contact Satellite Radio Direct (SRD) @ 888-964-2279. Note: all GM OEM XM systems and approved kits use the same antenna used with the U2K option. Any other mounting location/technique should clue technician into an aftermarket system. Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
