Tips for Fighting Use Physical Move and Special Move effectively
Pokmon moves are classified into types such as "Physical" and "Special." There are cases where "Physical" Moves are not effective on some Pokmon. In other cases, "Special" Moves are not effective against others. Try to pick a Move that will take away an opponents advantage.
Use a Pokmon's Type to Your Advantage Pokmon (switch Pokmon)
Touch "POKMON" or select "POKMON" by using the Control Pad and pressing the A Button. On the next screen, choose the Pokmon you want to switch, then confirm by selecting "SHIFT." Various types of Pokmon (such as Electric, Grass, etc.) each have different advantages and disadvantages against other types. For example, Water-type Moves have the greatest effect on Fire-type Pokmon, while Ground-type Moves have no effect on Flying-type Pokmon. Use these qualities to your advantage to come up with an effective battle strategy.
Where to Find Pokmon
Pokmon inhabit caves and areas with tall grass. If your Pokmon's HP is low, and you don't want to fight, avoid walking in those areas. Certain Pokmon only appear in the morning or in the late evening. Water-type Pokmon may appear when you are crossing a lake or ocean by using the HM Surf. You can also use a Fishing Rod by the water, or while crossing water, to catch some Pokmon. Press the A Button when "!" appears. Tips for Catching Pokmon If you use a Pok Ball on a Pokmon that has taken very little damage, it will break free of the Ball. You must first weaken the Pokmon by attacking it until its HP is low. It will also be easier to catch the Pokmon if you put it to Sleep, Poison it, and so on.
Tips on Raising Pokmon Raising Low-Level Pokmon
Place the Pokmon you want to raise in the first slot of your Pokmon party. Immediately switch to another Pokmon as soon as you enter a battle. As long as you win the battle, even the Pokmon that didn't fight will receive a portion of the Experience Points. By repeating these steps, you can slowly but steadily increase the level of a weak Pokmon.
Traded Pokmon Grow Faster
Pokmon you get from a trade receive a larger-than-normal amount of Experience Points when they win a battle. Try to trade with your friends a lot (see page 36). However, if a traded Pokmon is too high a level, it might not listen to you.unless you have the right Badges.
Leave Your Pokmon at a Day Care
During your adventure, you will find a Day Care that will raise your Pokmon for you. It takes a while to raise them, so wait a bit before you come back to check on them. You will also need to pay a fee when you pick your Pokmon up from the Day Care.
Pokmon Evolution
There are some Pokmon that evolve and change form as they grow. A Pokmon can evolve when its level increases, through the use of certain items, if it is traded, and so on.
Healing Your Pokmon
Give your Pokmon to the lady behind the counter to completely recover their HP and PP. Your Pokmon will also recover completely if they have fainted, are Poisoned, and so on. By using a PC, you can store or withdraw your Pokmon you've caught.
PCs can be found in other buildings besides a Pokmon Center.
A Pokmon Egg
If you leave a couple of your Pokmon at the Day Care, you may return to find an Egg. Eggs will hatch if you keep them in your party long enough.

At first you can only compete in Normal Rank Contests. Once a Pokmon defeats a rank, it can challenge the next rank. You'll find the entrance for Contest practice on the right side of the room.
Acting Competition
Use Contest Moves to appeal to different judges. You must choose a Move, then choose a judge to appeal to. The Move you use and which judge you appeal to will affect Contest scoring. Try to use the right move at the right time for bonus points. Try not to have your Pokmon scored by the same judge as other Pokmon.

A tree will disappear once you pick its Berries; however, it will grow back if you plant a Berry in the same spot! However, if you are able to beat a Gym Leader, you'll receive an official Pokmon League Badge as evidence of your impressive victory. Wearing these badges allows you to use HMs which previously could not be used in the field, even if your Pokmon had learned them.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection allows multiple Pokmon Diamond Version owners to play together over the interneteven when separated by long distances.
To play Nintendo DS games over the Internet, you must first set up the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (Nintendo WFC) on your Nintendo DS system. Please see the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection instruction booklet, available at www.nintendo.com/consumer/manuals if you need directions on setting up your Nintendo DS. See the Terms of Use Agreement (pages 5861) which governs Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection game play and is also available online at www.nintendowifi.com/terms. The nickname you use will be seen by others when playing multiplayer games using Nintendo WFC. To protect your privacy, do not give out personal information such as last name, phone number, birth date, age, e-mail or home address when communicating with others. For additional information on the Nintendo WFC, setting up your Nintendo DS, or a list of available Internet hotspots, visit www.nintendowifi.com (USA, Canada and Latin America) or call 1-800-895-1672 (USA/Canada only).

Pokemon Platinum, or Pocket Monsters Platina, as it is known in Japan, is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo exclusively for its hugely-popular Nintendo DS handheld gaming console. The title is part of the Pokemon RPG series, which also comprises releases such as Pokemon Pearl or Pokemon Platinum. Based on the world famous Pokemon anime series, it was first launched in its native Japan oon September 13, 2008, and will reach North American and European shores on March 22, and May 22, 2009, respectively. Pokemon Platinum is set in the fictional world of Sinnoh, which is the habitat of 493 different species of Pokemons, a special type of animals that possess different kinds of powers that can be used in the fight against their enemies. As all Pokemon stories, this title documents the journey of a young trainer who needs to raise and battle Pokemons, all of this while investigating a criminal organization that wants to hurt the creatures. Features such as Internet play, via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, or changes to the gameplay and battle mechanics are also present in the title, which aims at giving a fresh new experience to Pokemon fans all across the world. Older concepts such as Pokemon contests are also introduced, in order to bring back the old fans of the anime series and older video games. The title is essentially a revamp of the old Pokemon Diamond and Pearl editions, combined with new graphics and a few tweaks to gameplay. The game has received positive reviews, with critics praising the Wi-Fi features, which enable players to engage in some interesting battles, and the gameplay that, although being based on almost the same principles as older titles, has managed to offer an entertaining experience. Sales have been very good, with the game shipping around 15 million units worldwide, thanks to the big number of Pokemon fans out there. Full description
The Pokémon series morphs from precious stones to precious metal and sends players on a journey to the mysterious new Distortion World in this enhanced remake of Pokémon: Pearl Version and Pokémon: Diamond Version. The Distortion World is unlike any previous Pokémon setting, letting gamers operate outside the laws of physics as they leap from suspended platforms and walk upside-down. Changes also come to the Sinnoh region in the form of the "Battle Frontier," an area containing five new battle facilities for trainers, each with its own special rules and each helmed by unique "Frontier Brain" characters. Fans of multiplayer action can also head to the new "Wi-Fi Plaza" to enjoy a number of amusement park activities, including parades, fireworks shows, and three new four-player mini-games. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
