JENNIFER CORKISH BIOGRAPHY
Jennifer a textile artist/designer and teacher with fifteen years experience in the embroidery and patchwork industry, is now finding that machine embroidery is becoming a significant part of her life. Jennifer is delighted to have been invited by Brother to try their NV 4000D and NV 6000D. Consequently she has found a new creative tool to take her on another journey to where she can see no end of possibilities using Brothers amazing domestic sewing/embroidery machines. Jennifer is inspired by her surroundings, friends, nature, books, museums and the rich textures of everyday life. Often it will be something thats totally unrelated to stitching or quilting that will spark an idea and be the catalyst for a new work. With a drive to create, combined with a desire to encourage others, Jennifer likes to take her students on an adventure, learning new techniques, inspiring use of colour and how to look at fabrics differently. She encourages her class to place a piece of themselves into their work and thereby takes each participant out of their comfort zone into a new level of creativity.
My life is rich and creativity is the tool that brings the best out in me and brings the best to me. Jennifer

BROTHER AT YOUR SIDE JOURNAL
After making many samples and notes I realised that I needed a visual journal as a reference tool as well as creative stimulus. I have found making samples this size is achievable and writing notes with the stitch size or thread details has made a handy reference tool. During the Machine Embroidery Symposium you will learn how to use embroidery stitches, original PE8 designed tree, placement of embroidery and many other techniques to create your personal reference tool in the form of a textile journal. This journal can be adapted into a wedding, baby or special occasion journal which is only limited by your imagination. We will be discussing the possibilities of producing a monthly piece of work for your journal, using new techniques.

Decorative stitches outline the star points machine applique and embroidery. This project will help with embroidery placement using templates for positioning, understanding applique and cutting away fabric in the hoop to be finished under the machine which will also use decorative stitches to build or frame a design, and the addition of colour to embroidery designs to complement your work. (colour addition is purely optional) It is a pretty piece that could be added to easily to increase the size for a larger project with the use of borders and other small blocks.

Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September. For this Symposium we have assembled five of the major sewing machine brands, who over the years have been the leaders in machine embroidery.
JANOME SEWING MACHINE MODELS
MC11000SE MC11000 Version 2 Upgrade
The Machine Embroidery Symposium is designed to be machine brand and model specific and this means that you will be learning the art of machine embroidery on the machine you are using at home. Each machine company has designed a new and exciting project that will show you how to get the most from your machine and at the same time have a lot more fun using it.
The 3-day symposium is being held at The Sebel, Windsor NSW. This 4-star hotel is situated in one of Australias most historic areas. We have arranged a special twin share room rate which you can take advantage of by contacting The Sebel, Windsor on (02) 4577 4222. You will need to mention the Machine Embroidery Symposium. Each machine company has listed the models of machines that they have based their projects on. All you need to do is check to see if the machine you have at home is one of them. jane@quiltandcraft.com.au or roy@quiltandcraft.com.au
If your machine is among those listed, it is advised that you have it serviced so that it is in good working order before you bring it along to avoid disappointment. All the projects are based on kits which include all the fabric and notions necessary to complete it, but you will need to bring along some extra tools. We will send you a list of requirements after you have registered. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are all included as is your place at The Machine Embroidery Symposium Gala Dinner.
