Before your begin
Charging the Parrot MINIKIT Slim
The Parrot MINIKIT Slim must be charged before being used for the first time. To do so, plug the charger into your vehicles cigar lighter or connect the Parrot MINIKIT Slim to your computer using the USB/mini USB cable (provided).
Note : The cigar lighter charger of the Parrot MINIKIT Slim can only be used in cars.
The LED located next to the mini-USB port turns red to indicate that the battery is being charged. The LED turns off once the battery is fully charged. When the battery level is low, the Parrot MINIKIT Slim emits a series of beeps. Use the clip located on the back of the Parrot MINIKIT Slim to fix it to the sun visor of your vehicle.
Installing the Parrot MINIKIT Slim
You can also use your Parrot MINIKIT Slim at home by simply placing it on a stable surface.
Accessing the Parrot MINIKIT Slim menu
Press the red button for 2 seconds to turn on the Parrot MINIKIT Slim. Press the jog wheel to access the main menu. > The Parrot MINIKIT Slim says the name of the current menu. Browse through the menus by turning the jog wheel and confirm with the green button or by pressing the jog wheel. To exit the menu, press the red button or wait for a few seconds.
Establishing a Bluetooth connection with a phone
Pairing and connecting a phone / PDA by Bluetooth Before using the Parrot MINIKIT Slim with your phone, you first have to pair both devices. The pairing process is only required once. Depending on the model of your phone, the connection will then be automatic as soon as you enter your vehicle. 1. From your Bluetooth phone, search for Bluetooth peripherals (refer to your phone user guide for more information). > The list of the available Bluetooth peripherals is displayed. 2. Select Parrot MINIKIT Slim. 3. Enter the 1234 PIN code and validate. > The Parrot MINIKIT Slim says Pairing successful when both devices are paired.
Automatic connection
Once your phone is paired to the Parrot MINIKIT Slim, the connection between both devices will be automatically established each time you turn on the MINIKIT Slim near your phone. You can pair up to five devices. If you attempt to pair a sixth phone, the kit says memory full. You must clear the memory by holding down both the red and green buttons for three seconds. Doing so also clears all the contacts and the associated voice tags.

Synchronizing the phonebook
Note : Only contacts stored in the memory of the phone will be synchronised in the kits memory.
Automatic synchronisation
With most of the Bluetooth phones, the phonebook is automatically synchronized in the kits memory. Refer to the compatibility section of our website for more information. WARNING : The automatic synchronization is limited to contacts for each paired phone.
Sending contacts via Object Push
If your phone doesnt support automatic synchronization, you can also send contacts manually from your mobile to the car kit. To do so: 1. Press the jog wheel and select Receive contacts. 2. Refer to your phones user guide for more information about sending contacts (via Object Push).
Resetting the Parrot MINIKIT Slim
In case of malfunction, you can reboot the Parrot MINIKIT Slim. To do so: 1. Press simultaneously the jog wheel and the Reset button located at the back of the Parrot MINIKIT Slim. 2. Release the Reset button. > You can now release the jog wheel.
Before using your Parrot MINIKIT Slim telephony function, you first have to pair and connect both devices.
Refer to the Pairing and connecting a phone via Bluetooth section for more information.

Making a call
Calling a contact in the phonebook If the contact you want to call is in the phonebook of the phone connected to the Parrot MINIKIT Slim: 1. Press the jog wheel to enter the main menu and select Phonebook. 2. Select a letter and press the jog wheel. > Once the contact chosen: - Press the green button to call this contact. - Or use the jog wheel to choose between different numbers of the same contact.
Bringing up the last dialled number
Hold down the green key of the Parrot MINIKIT Slim for two seconds to redial the last dialled number.
Receiving a call
Note : The name of the caller is announced if his number is recorded in the phonebook of the phone connected to the Parrot MINIKIT Slim.
Answering a call Declining a call
Press the green button to answer an incoming call. Press the red button to decline an incoming call.
Using the Parrot MINIKIT Slim while on a call
Adjusting the volume Use the jog wheel during a call to adjust the communication volume. > The volume setting is saved for subsequent calls.
Transfering a call to the phone
During a call, if you want to continue the conversation on your phone (private conversation), press the green button of the Parrot MINIKIT Slim. > The call is automatically transferred to the phone. If you want to switch back to the kit, press the green button again.
Managing a second call
During a call, you can receive another call if your phone supports this functionality. Press the green button to accept the second incoming call. > The first call is automatically put on hold. Press the red button to decline the second incoming call. You can also hang up directly from your phone. Press the green button to switch from a call to another.
Managing voice mail
During a call, the Parrot MINIKIT Slim allows you to send DTMFs to manage your voice mail for example. To do so : 1. Press the jog wheel to access the DTMF menu. > 0 is displayed by the kit. 2. Use the jog wheel to select your DTMF between the following possibilities : 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,# or *. 3. Press the jog wheel to send this DTMF to your phone.
Ending a call
Press the red button to end a call.
Using voice recognition
Before using your Parrot MINIKIT Slim voice recognition function, you first have to pair and connect both devices. Refer to the Pairing and connecting a phone via Bluetooth section for more information.
Recording voice tags
All your contacts, after automatic synchronization or Object Push process, are directly provided with a voice tag in the Parrot MINIKIT Slim. Consequently, you dont have to record your own voice tag on each contact to make a call via the voice recognition process. However, if the Parrot MINIKIT Slim doesnt understand the name of one of your contacts or if a voice tag is too long, you can record a new one. To do so, press the jog wheel and select Add voice tags.
Making a call via voice recognition
1. Press the green key to launch the voice recognition feature. > A beep is emitted. 2. Say the Call keyword and the name of the contact you want to call. > The call is automatically launched if the voice tag is correctly understood. If it is not the case, a confirmation message is asked by the kit. 3. Confirm by saying yes or call. > The call is initiated.
Calling a contact with several phone numbers
If there are several phone numbers associated to the contact you want to call, you can specify the type of number. To do so, the following vocal commands are available:
- Home - At home Work At work Office At office At the office Mobile Cellular Cell On mobile On cellular On cell On mobile phone On cellular phone On cell phone Mobile phone Cellular phone Cell phone Other General Default Preferred
Exiting voice recognition mode
Press the red button to exit voice recognition mode.

Upgrade procedure for the Parrot Minikit
This document will help you in order to upgrade your Hands-free car kit over Bluetooth. Car kit upgrades are needed to improve the compatibility of your Parrot device, by allowing you to use more phones with your kit. It can also allow you to get new functionalities. You will find hereunder two different possibilities to upgrade over Bluetooth the Parrot Minikit. Software upgrade removes paired phones, synchronized contacts and voice tags.

1 Downloading the upgrade files
Before you begin:
Download and install the Parrot Flash Update Wizard program available on our web site www.parrot.com then choose SUPPORT and DOWNLOAD.
1. Start the Parrot Flash Update Wizard program. The following dialog box is displayed.
2. Click Next. The following dialog box is displayed.
3. Select the Parrot Minikit in the list and click Next. The following dialog box is displayed.
4. Click on Download Latest version. The Download Software Update dialog box is displayed.
5. Click on Download Now and wait until the end of the download. The downloaded files will be stored in C:\Program Files\Parrot Flash Update Wizard\Internet Files.
2 Upgrading the Parrot Minikit
2.1 By serial connection
Connect your PC and your Minikit with the Parrot serial cable. Make sure your Minikit is switched OFF. Download the upgrade files you wish to install.
1. Start the Parrot Flash Update Wizard software and click Next.
2. Select your Minikit and click Next. The following dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Browse to reload the binary files you have downloaded on your hard disk by following the C:\Program Files\Parrot Flash Update Wizard\Internet Files path and click Next. The update methods list is displayed. 4. Select Serial connection and click Next.
5. Select the port which is connected to your Minikit and click Next. 6. When the Parrot Flash Update Wizard reaches the XPRAM downloading, plug the Minikits power supply.
7. Wait until the Parrot Flash Update Wizard completes all steps and click Next. You can now click Finish and disconnect the Minikit from the PC
Your Minikit reboots.
Wait until your Parrot car kit reboots. This can take up to a few minutes. Do not switch off the ignition or power of your car kit in the mean time.
2.2 Using Bluetooth, without Windows XP Service Pack 2
Download the upgrade you wish to install. Make sure that your Bluetooth device is correctly installed on your computer (refer to its user guide for additional information).
1. Start the carkit to upgrade (red and green diodes should light on) and select the Update software by Bluetooth menu by turning the central knob. 2. Right click on the Bluetooth icon Places. on the toolbar and select Explore my Bluetooth
3. Pair your PC with the device if necessary and click on View my Bluetooth services. 4. Right click on the Bluetooth serial port icon and select Properties.
An outgoing COM port is attributed by the Bluetooth manager (COM4 in our example).
Write this number down, it will be required in the Parrot Flash Update Wizard. However depending on the specificity of your Bluetooth interface it might be slightly Different (refer to your Bluetooth equipment user manual for further explanations)
5. Start Parrot Flash Update Wizard and click Next. 6. Select the Parrot Minikit and click Next. 7. Get the previously downloaded files by clicking on Browse and click Next. 8. Select Bluetooth virtual serial connexion and click Next.
9. Select the right COM port, which has been previously assigned (COM4 in our example) and
click Next.
10. Wait while the Parrot Flash update wizard is passing the different upgrade steps and Finish.
Wait for the automatic reboot of the kit. Do not stop the power source! This operation can take few minutes.
Your Parrot Minikit is now up to date.
2.3 Using Bluetooth, with Windows XP Service Pack 2
Use this method only if youre using the Bluetooth manager provided with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2. If necessary, uninstall the driver provided with your bluetooth dongle and re-install the Microsoft driver on the Windows update website. Before you begin:
Make sure that your Bluetooth equipment is correctly installed. Download the upgrade file you wish to install.
1. Start the Minikit (red and green diodes should light on) and select the Update software by Bluetooth menu by turning the central knob. 2. Start Parrot Flash Update Wizard and click Next. 3. Select the Parrot Minikit and click Next. 4. Get the previously downloaded files by clicking on Browse and click Next. 5. Select Bluetooth connexion and click Next.
6. On the following window, click on Search devices and wait while searching for visible devices.
7. In the list select Parrot Minikit and click Next. 8. If requested enter the Bluetooth PIN code: 1234. 9. Wait while the Parrot Flash update wizard is passing the different upgrade steps and click on Finish.
