| This is a greta little companion to our standard digital camera. It hangs on to just about anything and is quick to set up. Lamp posts, fence posts, trees, chairs. A great idea to add stabilty on all surfaces. Coupled with the timer on my SLR we no longer have to ask strangers to "Take a photo of us"...brilliant. | |

herald a new era in binoculars : The LEICA DUOVID 8 +10 x 42 and the new 10 +15 x 50 are the first highend binoculars worldwide with switchable magnification. They are designed for the harshest applications in hunting and they deliver brilliant images, both at great distances and in critical low light situations. In both models the lower magnification (8 x in the 42 model and 10 x in the 50 model) render a steady image with a large field of view and a great depth of field. By switching over to the higher magnification (8 x or 10 x, respectively), you are then right up close to the subject, with an astounding imaging performance, even of the very smallest details. The new Duovid 50 especially, is impressive because of its great light-gathering capability, which offers hunters and nature observers an entire visual experience. The well-balanced weight distribution and the outstanding ergonomics of both models make shake-free observation possible with both models, even at the higher magnifications. Additional technical refinements in these innovative binocular designs, like automatic diopter compensation ADC when the magnification is switched, and the new HighLux System, make the Duovid binoculars unique.

10 / 11
LEICA DUOVID 10 +15 x 50 and 8 +12 x 42
You now have the choice of two Duovid binoculars, each with two magnification settings. Both the compact Duovid 42 as well as the extra-bright Duovid 50 are outstanding because of the high-performance optics that are typical of Leica and because of their rugged and long-lived precision mechanisms.
LEICA DUOVID 10 +15 x 50 In the 10 x mode, this Duovid is an extrabright universal binocular that can quickly be turned into a double binocular with a flick of two fingers : Details that up to now could only be seen with spotting scopes, you can now recognize with the Duovid when you switch to the 15 x magnification and that with both eyes.
Secure holding even with gloves and great image steadiness are ensured by the ergonomic shape and by the handy armoring, which is available in green or in black.
LEICA DUOVID 8 +12 x 42 The compact Duovid 42 features both the 8 x magnification with a large overview as well as the 12 x magnification with greater detail rendition. Like the Duovid 50 model, its patented eyecups feature two click positions for optimal adaptation to individual requirements.
The change in magnification is accomplished separately for each tube by turning two rings. The magnification for the diopter adjustment is automatically conformed through a curved lens (ADC).
In a wide-open field or in the mountains, observations often have to be conducted over great distances. The 12-power respectively the 15-power magnification is ideal for this purpose. The 8-power magnification, on the other hand, allows an excellent overview over the entire range.

If you also want to spend early morning and late evening hours on the hunting range the models in the 50 series feature the highest optical performance and excel in all viewing situations.
LEICA TRINOVID BN 50 series
LEICA TRINOVID BN 42 series
Are you looking for a binocular with application possibilities that are as versatile as your interests are ? The models in the 42 series are robust universal binoculars with good light-gathering power and compact dimensions, available in hunter green or elegant black.
LEICA TRINOVID 8 x 50 BN Universal binocular with optimal light-gathering capability that permits fatigue-free viewing even in waning moonlight. A steady image and high depth of field because of its 8 x magnification.
LEICA TRINOVID 10 x 50 BN High light-gathering capability, great contrast and resolving power. Detail-rich viewing even in darkness. Because of its 10 x magnification, it is especially recommended for nighttime use on a hunting stand.
LEICA TRINOVID 7 x 42 BN For situations where a steady image is particularly important : shake-free viewing, an extremely bright image and a very large field of view for a great overview.
LEICA TRINOVID 8 x 42 BN This multi-purpose binocular with 130 m (390 ft) field of view offers a high performance in daytime and also at twilight. The combination of a steady image and the 8 x magnification is ideal for a great many applications.
LEICA TRINOVID 12 x 50 BN High performance binocular with an extraordinarily close focusing distance of 3.25 m (less than 11 ft). Viewing is particularly rich in details because of the 12 x magnification. Remarkably steady handling thanks to its superb ergonomic form.
LEICA TRINOVID 10 x 42 BN The powerful binocular in the 42 series, with its high contrast rendition and 10 x magnification allows steady viewing, even over great distances.
Morning and evening twilight offers hunters and nature observers the most advantageous opportunity for viewing shy wildlife. In order to maintain this advantage in diffuse light over great distances as well, you must be able to have complete confidence in your binoculars. The models in the 50 series of LEICA TRINOVID BN binoculars are the top choice for such conditions.
LEICA TRINOVID binoculars of the 42 series are modern, internally focusing high-performance instruments. The diopter adjustment by means of the practical combination knob is particularly well conceived. (Werner Reb in : Jger)
The TRINOVID series sets the standard for optical quality. (Alaska Magazine, USA)
Whether youre stalking game or going on safari the models in the 42 series of LEICA TRINOVID BN binoculars are truly multi-purpose. Their ergonomic form and their twilight proficiency will excite all those who wish to improve their view of nature.

LEICA GEOVID, LEICA RANGEMASTER 1200 scan, LEICA RANGEMASTER 900 scan and LEICA PINMASTER : knowing the distance to the game makes a fast, safe and successful hunt possible. And the Leica laser rangefinders tell you exactly how far away you are from your target. The innovative LEICA GEOVID offers you even more : it combines a powerful binocular and a laser rangefinder with a range of 1,000 m (1,094 yards) in a single instrument thus becoming the undisputed reference instrument in the field, at sea or in the air. The same high-end laser technology is also employed in the new LEICA RANGEMASTER 1200 scan and 900 scan and in the LEICA PINMASTER. These ultra-compact monocular laser rangefinders have ranges from 640 m (400 yards) for the Pinmaster, up to 1,097 m (1,200 yards) for the 1200 scan. Both Range masters as well as the Pinmaster (which is a rangefinder designed especially for the sport of golf) feature an additional scan function that continually updates the readings when the release button is kept depressed. The scan function is particularly useful when hunted game is in motion and at large distances. Furthermore, all these instruments are also impressive for their extraordinarily bright viewfinder optics that are unusual in their class and for the 7 x magnification and integrated diopter compensation.

20 x WW 6 elements 20 x 22 mm 3.85 mm 3.m 68 mm 53 mm 246 g
32 x WW 7 elements 32 x 14 mm 2.4 mm 2.m 70 mm 54 mm 285 g

40 x WW 6 elements 40 x 11 mm 1.93 mm 1.m 81 mm 50 mm 230 g
2060 x (Zoom) 7 elements 2060 x 227 mm 3.851.28 mm 1.91.m 80 mm 53 mm 280 g
Magnification Magnification is a measure of how much closer an object appears to the viewer. At an 8 x magnification, an object situated at a distance of 328 ft (100 m) appears to be as large as if it were only 41 ft away (328 : 8 = 41). Binoculars are identified with two specifying numbers, like 10 x 42, for example. The first number indicates the magnification factor.
Front lens diameter This is the second number in the specification of a binocular or spotting scope. A 10 x 50 binocular has a front lens diameter of 50 mm. The larger that number, the more light can be gathered by the binocular. 42 or 50 mm for instance, are suitable for observation in twilight, whereas 20 mm is suited for viewing in daylight.
Exit pupil The exit pupil is the bright circle that can be seen when looking into the eyepiece of a binocular from a distance of approximately 30 cm (12 inches). The larger the exit pupil (exit pupil = front lens diameter in mm divided by the magnification factor), the brighter the image in twilight. It should be noted that an exit pupil with a diameter greater than 6 mm usually cannot be fully utilized by viewers who are more than 30 years old.

Twilight factor This number describes the performance capability of a binocular in twilight. It is computed by taking the square root of the product of the magnification factor and the front lens diameter. The twilight factor can, however, only serve as an approximate guide, because it does not take into account the quality of the optics.
Example LEICA TRINOVID 10 x 42 BN Magnification = 10 x, front lens diameter = 42 mm Exit pupil = front lens diameter = 4.2 mm magnification
Twilight factor = front lens diameter x magnification factor = 20.5
Internal focusing With Leica internal focusing, the only part that is shifted is a lens in the interior of the binocular or spotting scope. Because nothing is shifted on exterior surfaces, neither air nor humidity are drawn in a clear view is uniformly preserved, even in murky weather.
Photo Adapter Order No. Focal length with LEICA TELEVID 77 with LEICA TELEVID 62 Speed with LEICA TELEVID 77 with LEICA TELEVID 62 1:10.4 1:10.6 1:13.0 1:12.mm 640 mm (with reduced field of view) 1.000 mm 800 mm 1:10.4 / 800 (Televid 77) 1:13.0 / 1.000 (Televid 77) 1:12.9 / 800 (Televid 62) 42 301
Objective field of view This value indicates the width of the field of view at a distance of 1,000 m (or 1,000 yds). In general, the higher the magnification, the smaller the field of view. Here too, Leica binoculars show their superior strengths.
HighLux-System (HLSTM ) is a new Leica coating technology that optimizes the performance of Duovid binoculars. This process involves the application of dielectric mirror layers on prisms, which markedly increases light transmission. That enhances the overall contrast significantly. You are bound to appreciate this advantage, especially under difficult viewing conditions : youll enjoy a noticeably brighter image with enhanced contrast.
HDC optical coating The lenses in all LEICA TRINOVID BN and compact binoculars are treated with HDC optical coating (Highly Durable Coating). This innovative multiple coating is more scratch-resistant than conventional multiple coatings a major advantage, especially for external lens surfaces.
Eyepieces for eyeglass wearers When a binocular is to be used by someone who does not wear eyeglasses, the sliding eyecups should be pulled out. For eyeglass wearers, the sliding eyecups are simply pushed in. This allows the eyes always to be positioned at the same distance to the eyepiece, so that they can always see the full field of view. This is made possible by Leica eyepieces especially designed with exit pupils positioned at the right distance away from the eyepiece.
Multi-function central operation Central operation permits simultaneous focusing of both halves of the binocular. Furthermore the combination wheel patented by Leica allows convenient diopter compensation for both eyes, independently of one another. Once the diopter compensations have been set, their values can be read on a scale and they can be reset quickly when the binocular is used again at another time.

Brilliant far-seeing views with Leica binoculars
Wherever you are traveling, Leica binoculars bring you fascinating visual experiences. Whether you are in a theater or on a trip, whether you are bird-watching or hunting, in the mountains or on the high seas: we have the right far-seeing solution.
It is not only for photographing your subject and for reproducing its image that we resolutely abide by the fundamental Leica principle of providing our clients with the highest optical performance together with durable precision mechanisms we apply the same principle to our products for observation. The high quality of the optics, which are the heart of every Leica binocular, is the result of the confluence of many measures that were coordinated with one another. The types of optical glass that we use are not chosen just for the best suitability for the correction of aberrations, but also for maximum light transmission and neutral color rendition. Other building blocks on the path to razor-sharp, bright and crisp images are sophisticated optical computations, glass fabrication with extremely tight tolerances, precise manufacturing, complex ion-aided multiple coatings and laser-assisted centering. The heart of the optics in any Leica binocular are the roof prisms. They make the compact design possible, but they do require especially high-grade materials and extremely precise fabrication technologies. As an example, the Leica quality assurance specifications require
the 90-degree angle on the prism to be accurate to one second of a degree. If we were to enlarge the prism to a scale that would yield an edge length of 100 meters (328 feet), the maximum permissible deviation would be no greater than 1 millimeter (just over 1/32)! And the roof surfaces of the prism are coated with a layer of so-called P40 material, with which Leica compensates the optical wave effects of phase shifts of light-rays. This improves the resolution of fine details and contrast rendition even further. And here is another example of Leica optics give the viewer a natural impression of the view when the binocular is turned BINOCULARS in the service of the user: in order to
Creates a natural pictorial impression when a binocular is panned across a scene: pin-cushion correction in the optical system of Leica binoculars.
from side to side, for instance in sweeping an area for wildlife, all binoculars are designed with a slight pin-cushion distortion. If you sweep the landscape with a fully distortion-free binocular, you will get the impression that you are looking at a rotating globe. This perception-based globe effect is prevented by a precisely compensating correction. You should test the results of all these efforts towards optical brilliance yourself. How remarkably
realistic a distant subject looks when it is drawn closer with a Leica binocular. How distinctly the finest structures and color nuances are differentiated. And how clearly all the details can be discerned, even under unfavorable light conditions.
It guaranties protection against air dampness, thus ensuring long-lived, accurate functionality: the true internal focusing mechanism of Leica binoculars.
Numbers that speak for Leica
Some performance characteristics of a binocular can only be determined with reference to the fabrication techniques of the optical elements. Others are expressed in terms of established parameters. The latter also suggest the fields of application for which the binocular is suitable.
Binocular designations usually include two numbers. For example: LEICA TRINOVID 10 x 42 BA. Front lens diameter and magnification The number 10 represents the magnification factor. Therefore, with the TRINOVID 10 x 42 BA you see an object 10 times larger or 10 times closer than you would see it with your bare eyes. The number 42 in our example, indicates the diameter of the front lens in millimeters. Since the size of the front element determines how much light can pass through the binocular, it is a decisive characteristic for the performance of the binocular in twilight.
A criterion for applications in poor light: the diameter of the exit pupil (top left). Decisive for the performance of a binocular: Front lens diameter (bottom left).
Exit pupil When you look at the eyepiece of a binocular from a short distance, you will see a small bright circular area: the so-called exit pupil. The larger its diameter, the brighter will an image appear in twilight. On the TRINOVID 10 x 42 BA in our example, its diameter is 4.2 mm. A large exit pupil also makes it
easier to keep an object in view when you are standing on unsteady ground, for instance on a swaying sailboat. On Leica binoculars, a considerable optical design effort has been made to position the exit pupils back far enough so that wearers of eyeglasses too, can enjoy a full field of view. Twilight factor The so-called twilight factor is an indication of how well a binocular will perform in poor light. The higher this number, the better you can still discern fine details in twilight. The twilight factor can be calculated by taking the square root of the product of the magnification factor and the front lens diameter. In our example, this turns out to be a very high twilight factor of 20.5. The highest twilight factor of any Leica binocular is that of the TRINOVID 12 x 50 BA, which is 24.5 an extremely high purely mathematical value, the more thoroughly the optical system of a binocular has been corrected, and the higher the quality of its coatings, the better will be its detail rendition in poor light conditions. That is why the superb performance characteristics of Leica binoculars stand out, not only in bright daylight, but especially at twilight. Field of view Another important factor in the evaluation of the characteristics of a binocular is its field of view. It is usually expressed in terms of the width of the field seen with a particular binocular from a distance of 1000 meters (or 1000 yards). The smaller the magnification factor, the larger the field of view, generally. With the TRINOVID 10 x 42, for instance, the field of

Rigorously selected raw materials and the highest mechanical precision ensure flawless, reliable function of your Leica binoculars for many decades to come. Even under the harshest conditions. And their ingenious ease of handling make their use extremely comfortable.
Robust and watertight A rigid all-metal housing effectively protects the superb interior components of Leica binoculars. They remain in accurate shape, even under extremely harsh use. And continuously so. There is a solid reason for the 30-year guarantee that is granted for every TRINOVID binocular. To seal even the tiniest pores in the housings and to protect the valuable optics and mechanisms inside from dust and humidity, the bodies of the 32, 42 and 50 series of binoculars are impregnated in a process that lasts several hours. Sealing elements that were originally developed for air- and space travel then complete the procedure, making the interior 100% airtight. True internal focusing In order for the helical mounts to work
A major effort was made in the design of the eyepieces of Leica binoculars to ensure that eyeglass wearers can also enjoy the full field of view. Whether or not you wear eyeglasses, thanks to the practical sliding eyecups, your eyes are always at the right distance from the ocular.
smoothly, even under great temperature fluctuations, they are fabricated exclusively of aluminum and brass. An ideal combination of materials that makes lubricants virtually unnecessary and thus provides uniform and silky smooth movement during focusing. With true Leica internal focusing, only one lens in each half of the binocular is shifted for focusing. Nothing is shifted on the exterior surfaces of the binocular. Since there are no external guiding
Without eyeglasses: the extended eyecups shield the eyes from stray light. With eyeglasses: push in the eyecups, and the eyeglass lenses can move close to the ocular.

surfaces, neither dirt nor humidity can be drawn inside. The view through the binocular remains bright and clear in any weather. Sliding eyecups and oculars for eyeglass wearers There are many binoculars that place eyeglass wearers at a disadvantage they will have a markedly smaller field of view. By comparison, Leica binoculars and spotting scopes offer everyone across the board, the same, unrestricted field of view. With or without eyeglasses. Because a concerted effort was made in the optical computations to position the exit pupil far back. That enables the eyes always to be at the proper distance from the ocular: When you look through the binocular without eyeglasses, you simply pull out the sliding eyecup. If you wear glasses,
you simply push them back with a short push of your finger. The sliding eyecups firmly lock into position in both settings, so that they cannot be dislocated BINOCULARS accidentally. It couldnt be any easier. A sophisticated multi-function knob Developed by Leica, the unique multifunction knob on TRINOVID binoculars ingeniously combines several control functions. In addition to normal focusing, you can use it to adjust both halves of the binocular individually to the respective eye. To do so, you pull out the front half of the knob, set your personal diopter values and then push the knob back in and its ready. The values are fixed. The corrections can be read on a diopter scale that is integrated into the knob and the binocular can quickly be reset to the same values at any time later on.
Brilliance in a pocket format: Leica compact binoculars
The advantages of LEICA TRINOVID binoculars are not a matter of size. The fascination of superb optical performance and precise mechanical details is also present in Leica compact binoculars. Their great plus: they fit in your pocket, and you can comfortably take them along anywhere.
To see and to be seen: with a Leica compact binocular you are always seated in the first row.
Outstanding test results have confirmed the superb quality of LEICA TRINOVID compact binoculars again and again. They offer the same quality characteristics as their bigger brothers but with , distinctly smaller sizes and weights. High-grade optical glasses and complex optical computations ensure razor-sharp and snappy bright images. Sliding eyecups, diopter correction, the silky-smooth focusing knob, they all ensure comfortable and very easy handling. True internal focusing and a robust metal housing make Leica compact binoculars weatherproof and water resistant. The precise interplay between all optical and precision mechanical components is preserved, even under hard usage.

Your enthusiasm could only be greater with the APOTELEVID 77. Its high-grade fluoritecontaining optical glasses have very high light transmission qualities, and they do not produce any color fringes. With this highly corrected spotting scope, you can discern even the tiniest details of the subject with absolute color fidelity and outstanding resolution, from the center to the very edges of the field of view. And this down to a range of 3.90 m, or less than 13 ft. Magnification to suit your needs Depending on your range of applications, you have the choice of four precision eyepieces with different magnifications. A convenient bayonet mount allows them to be attached with a flick of the wrist. And with the set back exit pupils, that are typical for Leica, you can comfortably observe the full, unrestricted field of view, even if you wear eyeglasses. The largest field of view is covered by the B 20x WW wide-angle
eyepiece, which stands out because of the brilliant and bright image that it produces (20-power magnification). But the top-of-the-line B 32x WW eyepiece also offers a large field of view, in spite of its 32-power magnification. For the precise observation of small details from large distances, the B 40x eyepiece is the best choice. The greatest flexibility,
however, is provided by the B 2060x zoom eyepiece. It can be used to locate a subject in its surroundings with low magnification, and then to zoom in with higher magnification in order to examine its finest details close up. -- And there is no need to re-focus after changing eyepieces, because sharpness is retained from the previous setting.
