For Safe Battery Use

Keep the batteries out of childrens reach. Any battery may leak battery acid if mixed with a different battery type, if inserted incorrectly (put in backwards) or if all batteries are not replaced or recharged at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries. Any battery may leak battery acid or explode if disposed of in fire or an attempt is made to charge a battery not intended to be recharged. Never recharge a cell of one type in a recharger made for a cell of another type. Discard leaky batteries immediately. Leaky batteries can cause skin burns or other personal injury. When discarding batteries, be sure to dispose of them in the proper manner, according to your state and local regulations. Always remove batteries if the product is not going to be used for a month or more. Batteries left in the unit may leak and cause damage. Recommended type batteriesalkaline disposables, size D(LR201.5V). NEVER mix battery types. Change batteries when product ceases to operate satisfactorily.

Ne pas mlanger les piles uses et neuves. Ne pas mlanger les piles alcalines, standard (carbone-zinc) ou rechargeables (nickel-cadmium). Une pile peut avoir une fuite d'lectrolyte ou exploser si elle est jete dans le feu ou si vous tentez de recharger une pile qui nest pas conue cet effet. Ne rechargez jamais une pile dun type dans un chargeur fait pour une pile dun autre type. Jetez immdiatement les piles qui fuient. Les piles qui fuient peuvent causer des brlures de la peau ou dautres blessures. Lorsque vous jetez des piles, faites-le de manire adquate, selon les rglements locaux et provinciaux. Toujours enlever les piles lorsque le produit nest pas utilise pour un mois ou plus. Les piles laisses dans l'unit peuvent avoir une fuite et causer des dgts. Les piles recommandes sont de type alcalines jetables D(LR201.5V). NE PAS mlanger plusieurs types de piles. Changez les piles quand le produit cesse de fonctionner de faon satisfaisante.

Sick Mission Hospital

Realizing this critical health issue, in 1955, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority began making plans and laying the groundwork to establish a maternity hospital in the east African country of Kenya. The plans for a facility came to fruition in the early 1960s when Delta made a major donation to help finance the construction of the Thika Maternity Hospital in Thika, Kenya, which is now named Mary Help of the Sick Mission Hospital. The first hospital to open after Kenya gained its independence, Mary Help of the Sick Mission Hospital continues to be operated by the missionary sisters of the Holy Rosary. Mary Help of the Sick Mission Hospital has grown to 120 beds. It provides affordable prenatal and postnatal care, nutritional education, child immunization, and family planning. The hospital gives prenatal care, including lab work, blood tests, and examinations to more than 200 women daily. The facility also has a special care nursery for babies after delivery. The hospital also serves as an educational institution for nurses and midwives. Over 66 students are trained each year. Delta urges all sorors and friends of Delta to embrace our global community of Thika, Kenya with financial contributions.
