Technology only makes sense when it is of use to us.
The TFSI engine1 intelligently combines powerful turbo technology with the efficient FSI injection process proven technology from the world of motorsport. The result: an engine that only burns as much fuel as is necessary and responds more spontaneously and sportily. This is evident, for example, in the performance figures of the 2.0 TFSI (147 kW), whose maximum torque of 280 Nm is delivered between 1700 and 5000 rpm. This power unit accelerates the Audi A3 from 0 to 100 in 6.6 seconds, the A3 Sportback in 6.7.

The A3 and the A3 Sportback are available in numerous performance versions with petrol and diesel engines1. The performance range extends from 75 kW to 184 kW in the Audi A3 3.2 quattro, which as a Sportback accelerates from 0 to 100 in just 6.2 seconds. Also very dynamic while at the same time making extremely efficient use of the fuel are the diesel engines, namely the 1.9 TDI with a power output of 77 kW and the 1.9 TDI e and 2.0 TDI with power outputs of 103 kW and 125 kW respectively.

Thanks to the astonishing amount of legroom in the rear and the generously dimensioned interior. The sporty seats with contours that support the spine make driving an even more pleasurable experience. The tall centre console and the high position of the gear lever reinforce the dynamic impression and, thanks to the clearly arranged instruments, you have a lot of the important information available at a glance. You see: no matter which model variant you decide on in both vehicles you will find sportiness, space and relaxed comfort.

Be better protected.

Always on the move, but always in good hands. With the Audi A3 and A3 Sportbacks intelligent safety system.
The only thing you will ever see of the safety systems in the A3 and A3 Sportback will probably be the seat belts. Everything else you can view exclusively here. Such as the high-strength passenger cell. Or the remote sensors of the crash sensing system that ensure the restraint systems are triggered if the worst should happen. Thanks to the integral head restraint system, the shape of the seat restrains the upper body and supports the head in the
case of a rear-end collision. This increases the level of protection and reduces the risk of a whiplash injury. Also worthy of note: the driver and front-passenger airbags, the side airbags in the seats, also available as an option in the rear for the A3 Sportback, and the head-level airbag system which in the event of a side impact covers virtually the whole of the side-window area.

Active safety

It is sensible to expect anything. It is even more sensible to be ready for everything.
Anyone who is constantly on the move must be able to count on his car in any situation. When the windscreen wipers are activated, for example, the brake pads are placed in contact with the brake discs at intervals. In this instance, the Electronic Stabilization Programme (ESP) not only regulates the braking force in accordance with the driving situation, but when its wet also reduces the formation of a water film on the brake discs. The trailer stabilisation system makes use of the sensors of the Electronic Stabilization Programme to dampen trailer vibration which, for example, may have been caused by changing lanes, wheel ruts or side winds. Audi A3 1.9 TDI e

The e stands for extra efficiency Audi models. In these models, the balance between performance and consumption has been improved still further. These Audi models are characterised by reduced fuel consumption and CO2emissions when compared with standard models. In the A3 1.9 TDI e, this effect has been achieved by modifications to the vehicle. The A3 1.9 TDI e is fitted with the following as standard: 5-speed manual transmission with longer transmission between 3rd and 5th gear shift display in instrument cluster, assists in selection of the right gear 205/55 R 16 fuel-saving tyres with improved roll resistance improved trims and various vehicle components for low air drag coefficient

The e stands for extra efficiency Audi models. In these models, the balance between performance and consumption has been improved still further. These Audi models are characterised by reduced fuel consumption and CO2emissions when compared with standard models. In the A3 Sportback 1.9 TDI e, this effect has been achieved by modifications to the vehicle. An integral whole. When closed, the classic fabric hood reinforces the A3 Cabriolets* coup-like persona. It blends fully into the vehicles lines and provides excellent noise and heat insulation. Smart apparel. Thanks to the intelligent concertina folding action, no tonneau cover is required. Only the sky is the limit. The fully-automatic acoustic hood can be opened in nine seconds and closed in eleven even during the journey. And all very conveniently at the press of a button. The fully-automatic acoustic hood ensures your journey in the passenger compartment is always a quiet one and also provides excellent heat insulation.

04 Resolution: do more sport! The multifunction leather sports steering wheel in 3-spoke design3 is flattened at the bottom and comes with gearshift paddle switches if required. And with its aluminium trim inserts, it cuts a very athletic figure. 05 Sun at the press of a button. Anyone opting for the acoustic hood can open it fully automatically in nine seconds with just one press of the hood-opener button in the interior. The hood can be activated up to a vehicle speed of 30 km/h.

One subwoofer, two tweeters, one centre speaker and one 74 watt external DSP amplifier complete the rich sound experience turning every journey into a concert performance. 11 Rounding things off nicely. The stylish air vents bring to mind a sports car.

The design in detail.

01 There in black-and-white. The instrument cluster with driver information system1 features brilliant white displays on black dials. 02 Freedom for free time. The A3 Cabriolet2 offers more space than you may think. The rear bench seat can be folded 50:50 or completely. Another practical touch is the front passenger seat whose backrest can be folded back to create a virtually flat surface, thereby enabling long objects to be loaded into the car. 03 Now. And hurry. The optional navigation system plus fits harmoniously into the centre console switch panel. Its high-resolution colour display will conveniently show you the shortest way home. Although you would probably love to take a detour.

06 Quick change. With S tronic4, gearshifting is done in fractions of a second and is barely perceptible. Not only does S tronic ensure you make swift progress, it also adds a dynamic accent to the interior. 07 Fantastic atmosphere. One press of the button and the summer heat melts away. The air conditioning system is operated intuitively enabling straightforward adjustment to your desired temperature. 08 Take your seats! Four full-size seats invite you for a drive. The seats are covered in high-quality fabrics or, if desired, with elegant leather or a
12 Trio in harmony. The door opener, door handle and armrest form one visual unit and blend in perfectly with the high-quality sporty interior design.

01 Drive how you want to. A standard feature of the Audi A3 Cabriolet1 is the dynamic suspension. The independent wheel suspension enables longitudinal and lateral forces to be absorbed separately. The result is greater directional stability and increased lateral rigidity. The sports suspension is standard on the Ambition2 trim line. It lowers the ride height by 15 mm and provides a sporty ride combined with a high level of comfort.
02 We take safety very seriously. That is why special reinforcements have been added to the A3 Cabriolet1 to produce a very sturdy body. A high proportion of high-strength and super highstrength steels makes the vehicle compact, without compromising on driving pleasure. And not only do the roll-over bars look good, they offer even better protection. 03 Good humoured and well protected. The A3 Cabriolet1 is equipped with full-size airbags3 for driver and front passenger. The side impact protection consists of super-high strength door impact bars, head/thorax side airbags3 and protective side padding. The integral head restraint system restrains the upper body, thanks to the specially-shaped seat, and provides additional support for the head. Three-point seatbelts, complete with belt tensioners and belt force limiters in the front, round off the safety features in the A3 Cabriolet1.
