1. WHAT IS THE QUARTZ LOCK FUNCTION FOR? The quartz lock button bypasses all pitch settings, no matter where they happen to be set on either the main or ultra pitch faders. 2. WHAT IS THE ULTRA PITCH FADER FOR? The ultra pitch fader sets the zero point for the main pitch fader. It controls the pitch up to +/- 50% enabling DJs to create special effects in their mix. No other turntable has such a huge range of precise pitch control. 3. WHAT ARE THE START AND STOP CONTROL POTS FOR? They are for setting the start up and brake times of the motor, and can be controlled independently. 4. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO SAYS THAT THE PDX 2000S ARE PLASTIC AND ARE NOT AS DURABLE AS OTHER PROFESSIONAL TURNTABLES. IS THIS TRUE? The PDX 2000 is manufactured from a highly condensed ABS plastic, which offers high resistance to turntable feedback and rumble, as well as keeping the weight of the turntable to a minimum. This is an advantage over turntables manufactured from steel and rubber, which have an accoustic characteristic of amplifying surface noise from the turntable chassis. 5. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PDX 2000 AND TECHNICS SL1200MK2 / SL1210MK2 ? The Technics model was designed 27 years ago, and has barely been improved in this time, with only some slight changes in internal parts over the years.The Technics model still inherits some crucial design flaws that have hindered DJ performances for years, in particular the center indent in the pitch fader which alters continuous speed on either side of the click, and a plastic tone arm system with an anti-skating range that does not allow for proper connection to some of the more common DJ cartridges on the market. The PDX 2000 has a pitch range of +/-60% over two faders, the Technics +/-8% on one fader with a center indent. The PDX 2000 can stop and start twice as quick as the Technics model. The Technics has a torque rating of 1.5Kg / cm, whereas the Vestax PDX 2000 has a torque of 2.0 kg/cm. The PDX-2000 has a full digital logic servo control system, which is more accurate than other deck. The PDX 2000 uses Vestaxs revolutionary ASTS anti-skipping tone arm system, and does not require any anti-skating control to counteract tone arm force. The stylus light and the cables are user replaceable on the Vestax model not so on the Technics, which requires technical work for commonly replaced items in DJ applications. The Vestax model was designed for DJ-ing, not 70s hi-fi ! 6. MY FRIEND SAYS THAT THE PDX-2000 WEARS OUT THE VYNIL MORE THAN A NORMAL TURNTABLE. The opposite is right The Clue of the ASTS tonearm is that it does not create a force which tries to lead the tonearm into the middle of the vinyl. Therefore it needs no compensation and reduces the wear and tear of the vinyl.
