The only adaptation we are making in the Logitech Harmony One is adding the holographic touch screen. We have a pretty good idea how it should be made and how it would then work. The sensor: To be able to make the holographic touch screen you will need sensor that registers movement of an object. In this case that would be a part of the human finger. We have chosen the occupancy sensor, because we think that is the most suited sensor for this. Occupancy sensors are energy conservation devices that sense the presence of one or more persons within a selected area and generate occupancy signals indicative of that presence. These signals activate or deactivate one or more electrical appliances. The hologram: For the holographic touch screen, the hologram would need to be further developed to. Now it is only possible to project an object as it is in real. However if we want to use it with the Logitech Harmony One, it will be necessary to be able to rotate the hologram 90 degrees.
Our idea is to make a product combining the Logitech Harmony One and holography. However not just any ordinary holography: holographic touch screen. The holographic screen is where you will select your activities like watching TV or playing a DVD, enabled by the sensors in the remote.
Of the 100 people we have questioned 90 of them said it was a nice idea and 41% of the 90 even said they found the idea very interesting. However a big group of 32% of the 90 does not really believe that this product can exist. There is no clear difference between men and women. Furthermore 25% of all said they would consider buying the product. However the majority of 53% still doubts that they would but the product, even though they thought it was a good idea and quite a big group of 22% does not want to buy it at all. Earlier we said that we had expected that the younger generation will accept the product more easily than the older generation. However it seems that we have underestimated the futuristic view of the older generation. This can clearly be seen in the chart Buying among age categories, the majority of the 45+ category still think they might buy the product if it came on the market.
We have chosen for the Futuristic scenario, because we expect that our Logitech Harmony with holographic touch screen will be accepted and it contains a futuristic technology so a high social acceptance & high technological development.
