LG Sells over 30 Million LG KP100 Units

An entry-level handset

South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics announced on Tuesday that it had managed to ship more than 30 million units of its LG KP100, an entry-level handset. According to the company, the number of LG KP100 models shipped shows that it has gained more ground on the market, given the fact that the entry-level segment is an important area of the market too. The entry-level LG KP100 is a device that first emerged back at the beginning of 2008 in India and Latin America, but it is now available all around the world. The handset comes both in GSM and CDMA versions, and seems to become more and more popular among users, as LG already came to the market with phones like KP105, KP106, KP107 and KP108, which are similar to the original, but offer a diversity of connectivity, design and color options. The South Korean phone maker also said that 20 million LG KP100 sold on the market were GSM models, while the rest of 10 million include the CDMA flavor. The two-year old mobile phone comes both with a very attractive price tag as well as with a compact body (12.6mm thick) and with FM radio capabilities, though it sports only a small display. For what it's worth, this is not the first LG mobile phone that sees a great traction from users. As many of you might already know, the company already announced not too long ago that it had managed to sell more than 1 million LG Arena devices, shortly after the handset reached the market, as well as more than 5 million LG Cookie units. As GSM Arena notes, the company's achievement might not seem too impressive, considering that this is only an entry-level device, yet it still shows that LG is taking steps in consolidating its leading position on the mobile phone market.
