HOW TO FLASH THE ROM OF AN AIRIS T920A.
(an particularly the Windows CE 4.2 OS partition)
Warning Any flashing is a risky business, so proceed with caution. Any hardware damage or data loss is under your own responsibility.
This tutorial has been validated only with the R06.4.621.0426 firmware bootloader version.

Symptoms: When switching the device on, the screen is blanked during 3 sec. then shows the boot loader version, then the device is totally frozen and Active sync is useless. Solution: Rinstall Windows CE 4.2
Here is the procedure: 1- Get an SD card and have it formatted in FAT16 (not FAT32 !). Use SD Card Formatter or WinXP's own format utility. 2- Download this flashable file from http://hpcmonex.net/roms/winceimgair.zip Unzip it in any directory. From there, copy the winceimg.cks and winceimg.bin files to the said SD card. 3- While the PNA is unpowered, insert the SD card in its slot and then check that you're using an external power supply or at least a fully charged internal battery. 4- Switch the PNA on with the hardware switch button at the bottom of the device; at the same time, depress the soft reset button (through the small hole at the bottom of the device),
5- At the WINCE upgrade scroll down the selection cursor til 1=WINCE by SD/MMC (see [IMAGE 1]) by depressing the big black standby button on the right side of the device once. 6- Depress "soft reset" to validate your choice and start the flashing procedure
WARNING- The device must remain ON during the procedure, do not mess with the power supply.

7- Switch the device OFF ( sliding hardware switch) 8- Remove the SD card containing winceimg.cks and winceimg.bin 9- Reinsert your "Route 66" SD card 10- Switch the device ON ( sliding hardware switch)
The touch screen calibration crosshair appears (with instructions in spanish, as usual) Recalibrate (Important) After the last crosshair, wait for the 30 seconds countdown. That's all folks. Now your beloved PNA is alive again.
