Alfa Romeo MiTo

Introducing a new rival for the Mini Cooper. Its name forms the links between the city it was designed in, and the city where itll be produced. Milano and Torino respectively. From boldly designed front aspect to the distinctive shape of the bonnet, from the frameless side windows to the aggressive, but elegant LED lights - it simply couldnt look more stunning. The MiTo is both compact and dynamic at 4.06m long, 1.44m high and 1.72m wide. Thanks to the care taken on every single detail, the interior represents the very highest of Italian standards. With a power output of up to 155 bhp, this car can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles/h in 8 seconds. The MiTo also comes with a special electronic control system called D.N.A.: taken straight from the world of racing, this feature can adjust the responses of the car depending on the driving style and conditions. The Electronic Q2 system offers exceptional road holding, while MacPherson suspension and rebound springs ensure the kind of handling you would expect from a genuine Alfa Romeo. Designed to satisfy the highest Euro NCAP rating, this car also offers optimum safety. With all of these features, the MiTo is the sportiest compact car in the world. Motoplan will be launcing a MiTo matrix towards the end of September 08, first cars for delivery January 09.

1.9TTiD victim of its own success
Saab is ramping-up production of its twin-turbo diesel engine to avoid delays on vehicle delivery. The 1.9TTiD was introduced last year and is now available on higher-end 9-3 models. But demand for the 180bhp unit has been such that there is a backlog of orders and Saab UK cannot get the vehicles to customers quickly enough. Saabs UK managing director, Jonathan Nash, said the situation was in hand and should be remedied soon. Were ramping production up, he said. I wouldnt say we are behind on orders, but its not as we would like it. There is a 6-7 week delay on new orders and you dont want to keep customers waiting. If you can get it down to 5-6 weeks, that would be acceptable. Beyond that people will say they are not going to want the car anymore. Mr. Nash said Saab had, to an extent, been a victim of its own success. The TTiD is perfect for fleet, he said. At the moment its the hot car and we could do with some more of them because the fleet team is doing a good job of selling them. He assured fleet managers that Saab was very serious about providing the best possible service to business customers. At the moment fleet is very important to Saab, he said. It makes up 50% of our volume. Saab has several new products on the way, including a replacement for the existing 9-5 in September next year. Mr. Nash also promised heavy revisions to the 9-3 before the new version arrives in around three years time.

Meet the Fiat Sedici!

Launched in Italy in 2006 the Fiat Sedici is the firms first ever SUV. Called the Sedici (Italian for 16, the total of 4x4!) its an indication of how the European market share for vehicles with off- road capability has increased. A joint project of Fiat and Suzuki the 4x4 comes with a good pedigree, reviewers point to its transmission and electronic differential system, which are both by Suzuki, as a key part of the SUVs functionality, whilst Fiats stamp is notable in both the sporty interior and stylish curvy exterior. The Sedici is available with two choices of engine- either the 16- valve 1.6 litre 107bhp petrol engine or the acclaimed 1.9 litre Multijet turbo diesel with a 120bhp output, which is widely recognised as the most powerful diesel in its class. Goodbye Catherine

Motoplan would like to announce that Account Manager Catherine Thompson will sadly be leaving us on the 19th September. Catherine is going back to University to complete an MA in International Relations, Global Security and Development. Catherine would like to say thank you to all my accounts for their trust and business whilst I have looked over them the past 18 months it has been a happy and memorable experience working with you and Motoplan. During the interim period of recruiting, Catherines accounts will be handled by Hayley, Alice and Derrick. We wish her all the best of luck.
