More power: a charge air cooler reduces the temperature of the air supplied to the engine. This increases the power output of the 2.0 TFSI power unit*. The turbo-charger ultimately transforms the engine into a top-class athlete. The engine keeps its maximum torque of 350 Nm constant in the 2,500 to 5,000 rpm range. The result of this broad turbocharger plateau and the extremely spontaneous response is a breathtaking acceleration performance that takes the S3** and S3 Sportback** from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 and 5.6 seconds respectively.

Electromechanical steering
The electromechanical power steering system ensures a high degree of steering precision and low sensitivity to road surface disturbances, even at high speeds.
The S tronic transmission
The dual clutch transmission, now also being used in the Audi S3, changes gear without any perceptible pause. When the car accelerates, the control logic already preselects the next gear. At the shift point, the double multi-plate clutch plate reacts at lightning speed and the transmission changes gears seamlessly. The gearshift process takes place almost imperceptibly and without interruption in power ow in combination with quattro, this makes for a particularly sporty driving experience. You can also choose between the comfort of automatic shifting or dynamic manual shifting.

S sports suspension

The body of the Audi S3 and Audi S3 Sportback is not only lower by 25 mm, it also has a really sporty spring/damper tuning. It ensures the car turns in a characteristic dynamic performance without compromising on comfort. For better load distribution, some elements of the front axle have been manufactured from lightweight aluminium components. The result is even more agile performance and better handling.

Providing exceptional grip when cornering in a sporty fashion, excellent road holding on virtually any surface and superb traction when accelerating, quattro all-wheel drive is the virtual embodiment of Vorsprung durch Technik. It distributes the drive power to all four wheels as required by means of the Haldex clutch which has been specially adapted to the model. And so that its a match for the massive 350 Nm of torque, the drivetrain of the Audi S3 and the S3 Sportback has been reinforced.

Lights

H eadlights, halogen headlights utilising free-form technology with clear glass covers, electric headlight range control and parking light function, daytime running lights xenon plus, the headlights with durable gas discharge technology for dipped and main beam enable an intensive illumination of the road with excellent evenness and range, both close-up and in the distance, in a colour resembling daylight. The automatic-dynamic beam angle control prevents oncoming trafc from being dazzled; daytime running light band using LED technology with low energy consumption (including headlight cleaning system) adaptive light, the dynamic cornering light identies the course of the road from the movement of the steering wheel. The headlights swivel into the corner depending on the turning angle to provide variable illumination of the curve. The adaptive light is operational between speeds of approx. 10 km/h and 110 km/h (including xenon plus) M ain beam assist, utomatically detects the headlights of oncoming trafc, the rear lights of other road users a and built-up areas.
