Samsung Wave II GT-S8530 Available in the UK
South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has just made another bada OS-based mobile phone available for purchase on the market in the UK, namely the Samsung Wave II, which sports the model number of GT-S8530.

Running under the handset vendor's bada 1.2 operating system flavor, the new device can be purchase from Phones4u for free with contracts that start at £20.00 per month. Those who are interested in the purchase of the handset would be able to choose from monthly contracts at Vodafone, Orange and O2. The handset was put on sale via O2 as well. It should be noted that the Samsung Wave II GT-S8530 mobile phone is being pushed to the UK market about four months after it was initially announced by Samsung. "Following the phenomenal success of our first high-end Wave handset last year, we wanted to take the smartphone experience we offer our customers a step further," Simon Stanford, managing director of mobile at Samsung UK and Ireland said. "With our Social Hub, it's now even easier for people to share content such as photos and videos with their social networks. And they'll also benefit from the growing popularity of our App store via the new gaming bundle we are offering." The new smartphone comes with specs somehow similar with those included with the original Wave, such as a 1GHz processor, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, or a microSD slot for additional storage space. The handset also includes a 3.7 inches Super-Clear LCD display, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, flash and 720p HD video recording. We should also note that all those who would purchase the new mobile phone before March 31st, 2011, would benefit from an entertainment bundle included into the mix. Samsung Wave II Arriving in Russia Next Month
Samsung has just revealed that it will launch its Samsung Wave II (GT-S8530) in Russia, in November 2010. The device is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Samsung S8500 Wave, which sold in more than one million units in Europe, since its April launch.

While the smartphone seems to be similar to its S8500 Wave predecessor, it seems that it will come with an updated 1.2 Bada OS. The new operating system is said to be featuring T9 Trace functionality, which works much the same as the Swype function on the Android smartphones. Samsung S8530 Wave II is powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU and features a 3.7-inch Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors support (480 x 800 pixels resolution), which has a scratch-resistant oleophobic surface. Other highlights of the device includes: accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, multi-touch input method, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, TouchWiz UI 3.0, Handwriting recognition, Smart unlock. Spec-wise, the device sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face, smile and blink detection, image stablilization, touch focus, as well as video recording capabilities (720p@30fps) and video light. S8530 Wave is also an "all-in-one" communication tool, as it features a wide range connectivity methods: HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support, microUSb 2.0, GPS with A-GPS support (Samsung Mobile Navigator). The phone comes with a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB card included), 1.5 GB system storage (390 MB user available storage), 3.5 mm audio jack, DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine), TV-Out, Stereo FM radio with RDS, and FM recording. Even though no exact release date has been disclose yet, Samsung S8530 Wave II is slated for launch in November and will be purchasable for about 19,990 Rubles (approx. 670 USD).
