Upgrading your O2 Connection Manager Software
Connection Manager can easily be updated so that you can take advantage of new features that we introduce. The latest release includes access to BT Openzone hotspots as well as a data counter so you can keep track of how much data you use on the O2 network. It only takes a few minutes to upgrade your software. First choose how you are going to connect to the internet then follow the instructions for all users. Option 1 Connecting using your fixed broadband service or your home/business wireless network. To use your fixed broadband service then youll need to plug your broadband cable in to your computer. If youre using your wireless router at home then just connect in the usual way. Dont forget that you can also take advantage of the O2 UK Wi-Fi included in your mobile broadband tariff. You can find your local Cloud hotspot in the Hotspot Directory in Connection Manager (magnifying glass icon). When youve got your internet connection, go to the Tools menu (Spanner) and click on Update Software.
Option 2 Connecting to the internet using the O2 network If you dont have access to fixed broadband or Wi-Fi then you can upgrade your software using the O2 network. Just plug in your USB modem and connect to the O2 network in the usual way. Click here and download the software. When prompted you should choose Run and continue with the instructions below.
Instructions for all users
Step 1 Once the download begins, a status bar will indicate how long it will take.
Step 2 Close Connection Manager Connection Manager will prompt you to say that the download has been completed successfully and that the software must now be closed before the update can be completed. Simply click Yes when you see the following message.
and then Continue when you see this message
Step 3 Select the I accept the terms in the licence agreement checkbox and click Next to accept the license agreement
Step 4 Complete the installation Click Install to commence the installation of the updated software. A status bar will indicate how long the install will take.
Click Finish when the install wizard tells you that the installation has been completed.
Step 5 Check that the upgrade has completed successfully Go to Tools (Spanner) / Help / About and check that the version number of the software is 3.4.R1 (98) Phase 2

O2 Mobile Broadband for Windows 7 users
If youre using Windows 7, follow the instructions below to install your Connection Manager software. This software will manage your mobile broadband and all other internet connections. For more information on using O2 Mobile Broadband, read the full mobile broadband user guide included in the box with your dongle.
IMPORTANT: You need to uninstall your current Connection Manager software before installing the new version.
If this is the first time youve used O2 Mobile Broadband, go to step number 8 on page 3. If youve already used O2 Mobile Broadband, read on. Existing O2 Mobile Broadband customers You need to uninstall your current version of Connection Manager before installing your new Connection Manager software. Heres how. 1. Click the Manager. on the top right of Connection Manager to exit Connection
2. Click Start, then Control Panel.
3. Click Uninstall a program. Youll find it under Programs.
4. Right click O2 Connection Manager, then click Uninstall.

5. Click Yes.

6. Click Yes.
7. You now need to restart your PC, click Yes.
3 Existing O2 Mobile Broadband customers youve now finished uninstalling your old version of Connection Manager. Follow the instructions below to install the new version. New O2 Mobile Broadband customers - follow the instructions from here. 8. Put the CD into your PC. When the AutoPlay window pops up, click Run. This pop up may take a few minutes to appear. Tip: If this doesnt appear automatically, start O2 Connection Manager manually by going to Start > Computer > O2 ConnectionMan.
If you have downloaded the software from the web site, double click on the application. 9. If the User Account Control pop up appears, click Yes.
10. Read the agreement. If you accept, tick the Accept box. Click Next.
4 11. Click Install. This may take a few minutes.
12. Once the installation is finished the following pop up will appear, click Finish.
13. Double click the Connection Manager icon on your desktop.
14. The following Connection Manager screen will appear. Enter your details and click Continue. Note: Dont insert your dongle until youre asked to.
15. If the User Account Control pop up appears, click Yes.

16. Click the tools icon

then click Install the USB Modem.
6 17. The User Account Control screen might appear. If it does, click Yes.
18. After the modem drivers are installed, a pop up will tell you to insert your USB modem. Insert your modem first, then click OK.
Your device driver software will now start installing. Youll see the following message on the bottom right hand side of your screen.
Once the installation process has finished, youll see the following message on the bottom right hand side of your screen.
19. The AutoPlay window might pop up. If it does, click Run AUTORUN.EXE.
