Linksys WET11 v2 Wireless Bridge Quick Start
Thank you for your purchase. Heres a quick-start routine for this device that we find works very well. 1. Connect the bridge directly to an available port on your router using the wired cable provided with the device. (If you dont have an available port, simply disconnect a device temporarily.) Please do not attempt to configure the device any other way. Though the manual and Linksys tech support may suggest a connection to a PC works, in our experience it doesnt work with any degree of reliability. Save yourself some headache and connect it directly to your router. 2. Make sure the crossover switch on the back of the WET11 bridge is in the || position, NOT the |X| position. 3. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet and then into the device. 4. Using the end of a bent paperclip or the fine point of a pencil or other instrument, press in and hold the reset button located on the back of the bridge for a few seconds to restore the device to factory defaults. At this point you should see that the PWR and the LAN indicator lights on the bridge are both lit. If the LAN light is not lit at this point, please go back to step 1. (We rest it after testing and prior to shipping, but it wont hurt for you to do it again.) If you get back to this step again and you do not get a lit LAN indicator light, you might try connecting the WET11s cable to another port on the router. The best bet at this point is to use a port youre already using for another device that you know if working and on the network. (Dont disconnect the PC you plan to configure the WET11 from.) 5. On a PC that's connected by a network cable to the same network router, open your browser (Internet Explorer only please) and type in http://192.168.1.225/ (Those are periods in between the numbers.) Please do not try to configure the device from a PC connected to your network wirelessly. 6. A dialogue box will open and the bridge's internal browser-based configuration utility should prompt you for a username and password. Leave the username blank and TAB to the password field and enter the default password, 'admin'. (Do not enter the quotes, just the word.) 7. You are now in the Setup. Many of you already know what to do once you get here. There are far too many options for us to cover in this quick guide. The Linksys User Guide provides detail on all the options available here. 8. One youve configured the device to work with your network, dont forget to flip the crossover switch on the back of the device to the |X| position.
